    Last night aside, the Sixers had been on fire lately, especially defensively this month. They're still on track to at least challenge for a playoff spot, and are one of 9 teams in the East actually capable of making the playoffs (I think 6 teams -- Cleveland, Detroit, Washington, Charlotte, New Jersey and Toronto -- are basically done). that's good that they're playing defense, because last year i'm pretty sure they sucked at it. evan turner has kind of been a bum this year, which isn't good since we drafted him #2 overall. i'm just hoping he ends up being a productive player rather than a complete bust. so far he hasn't shown much ability to create his own shot, which is a bad problem for a supposedly athletic guard.

    i pretty much hated college football news after reading this... actually i used to read that site frequently and its become kind of a joke the last couple of years. here's one of their rationales for why auburn will beat oregon: the pac 10 is ranked first in the sagarin ratings. and i love that beating teams like mississippi state, clemson and georgia are now great wins.

    yeah no kidding. not only did he completely waste a 25-man roster spot for the better part of a season, but then he took playing time from guys in A ball so he could continue to prove that he was a terrible pitcher.

    that's about a year and a half later than we should have gotten rid of david patton. i guess maybe someone finally clued the cubs into the fact that a player who is awful in single A as a 26 year old is probably not going to be a good player down the road.

    it seems there is a discrepancy in the weight of baby Jesus from what was originally quoted by ricky bobby. we need to get some Christian scholars on this to find the truth.

    how bad must the vikings players be considering that they're 5-8 with their whole team on steroids (now legal in MN) and getting preferential treatment from the officials every game?

    i put a pretty high confidence number on the bears this game so hopefully the refs will stop completely screwing them over and they can win going away.

    Never. Minny found a novel way around it: just get your state courts to declare that NFL rules are optional. Worked like a charm. So the whole team is probably doping now. And the Twins, too. Great. if the vikings are doping, they're doing it wrong.

    hopefully the bears give up just like half of their fans in this thread have given up.

    obviously he's way overrated among yankee fans. outside of that, i think he was overrated for so long that there was a backlash against him, which then made him underrated by a lot of people.

    no they have some close calls. last year they lost the first two sets to texas, then came back to win in 5 sets - all 3 of the sets PSU won were close (especially the third and fifth). 2008 they were clearly the best team in the country but they did have to play nebraska in the national semi-finals in omaha, so there were 15,000 people rooting for nebraska and they took the match to 5 sets. same thing in 2007, played stanford in the finals in san jose and lost sets 3 and 4 before winning set 5 for the title.

    it would have been awesome if jackson had gotten tackled at the one by the giants player who should have been paying better attention to him after jackson's shameful and almost disatrous display of showboating. joe buck impersonation? so in your opinion it wouldn't have been awesome if the giants player was close to him, he would have run into the end zone instead of goofing around on the goal line. "almost disastrous" is comically overstating things (which given the source is not especially surprising)

    i was never a big fan of the whole "taunting the opponent while putting Bible verse numbers in your eye black" thing.
