  1. the nba has always done this. i remember when the first round series were 5 games long and used to go for 2 weeks if they played the full 5.
  2. i agree with this... plus if a marginal player is hurt on a team which has its DL full, they will likely have to drop that player, just so he can be picked up and DL'ed by another team in the league that doesn't have injury problems.
  3. see bob sanders' comment about his swing before looking nothing like his swing now. what players did steroids turn from weak-hitting bums with an OPS in the low .700s to 50 home run terrors with an ops around 1.000? i can think of one guy who went crazy, brady anderson, and that only lasted one season... plus he was always a better player than bautista. the other hole in your theory is that players are tested for steroids now, so if you're right then he's either using a really good masking agent or he's just using during the short offseason.
  4. change of batting stance? seriously, bonds was an awesome hitter who became ridiculous after pumping his body full of juice. bautista was a mediocre player who has become terrific. steroids don't make lousy players become good; obviously there's something more than "oh look he's obviously juicing" at play here.
  5. i have no idea. give me another example of small point guard who shot the ball a lot, played on lousy teams for most of his career, then got traded when he was well past his prime. we can do some case studies then.
  6. george lynch started 80 games that year and averaged a solid 8 ppg in 32 minutes of play.
  7. oh yeah my bad. i should have double checked that, there's no way that austin jackson makes 4 outs without striking out at least once.
  8. I'm not so sure. Really tough to compare the two since they are polar opposites. But Iverson was a career 41% shooter averaging 6 assists. I'm not a huge fan of Rondo either, but he has a ring. He's a good creator and a good defender. Does Boston win a championship with Iverson instead of Rondo? I'm not so sure. it's hard to say what iverson would have been like in his prime on a good team. he always forced up bad shots because there were no other options. he had complete dregs on his team and always had to do everything (offensively) himself. it would have been nice to see him on a real team. (that has been one of the really annoying things about the sixers the last 20 years, having two terrific players - iverson and barkley - and surrounding them with absolute trash.)
  9. so has shannon brown just not improved much? i thought he'd be a valuable bench part, which the lakers have always seemed to have. and i guess luke walton (a former useful bench part) has just gotten old and bad now? still seems like he should be young to me, but i see that he's 30 now.
  10. so basically i put ichiro back on my bench (can i have 0.5 points since ichiro whiffed twice tonight while jackson just had a normal 0-4?) can i remove jackson from my lineup and replace him with napoli (who was playing catcher, but has been replaced there with victor martinez coming off the DL) the rule about not subbing position players during the week seems pretty dumb to me - after all, how much of an advantage are you really going to gain given the very limited benches - but i'll abide by it.
  11. iverson was a chucker, everyone knows that. of course, when you play on a team with supporting "stars" like theo ratliff, aaron mckie, tyrone hill, george lynch, keith van horn, an obese derrick coleman and a 75 year old dikembe mutombo, can you really blame him? who else on those teams was going to create any offense?
  12. ok well you bulls fans gotta get on the same page. luol deng can't be both a british bum who can't create his own shot and an awesome young piece of the future. and a guy who gives you 18/10 a game is not allowed to be a guy who can't jump, score, defend or do anything. the sixers have had more than enough guys who cannot do any of those things for me to recognize an incompetent bum when i see one.
  13. oh great, so you can move starting pitchers around but not position players? i clearly have missed another one of the 274 rules.
  14. well wait are rose's complementary players good or not, someone was just saying that rose is carrying mediocre players on a bum ankle.
  15. 25-10-6 Still better than about 95% of Rondo's playoff games. you left out an important number.
  16. activated victor martinez, dropped a minor league player and sent mcgee to the minors.
  17. not bad by rosscup, faded late and was also let down by bad D and latham giving up his two inherited runners: 5.2 ip, 7 h, 5 er, 3 r, 1 bb, 5 k. strong outing by greathouse (probably done?): 6 ip, 1 h, 0 r, 2 bb, 8 k, 1 hbp. sczcur has 5 SB in the last 5 games, nice to see him running more (i don't care a huge amount about SB, but the minors is the place to run wild and improve that skill)
  18. It only recognizes the starts you have in your starting line up, or guys who were in your starting line up that have been returned to the bench. I just looked at both of your teams in live scoring and it's right. You have 5 starting pitchers with a start remaining. Tim has 5 remaining, plus Bartolo Colon is showing to have one even though he has been returned to the bench at some point. Live scoring shows all of the roster changes made at the very bottom of the starting line up part of the page. ah good to know. that probably screwed me up the last time i went over in starts.
  19. has anyone noticed that junior lake's BB/K ratio is 0/27? apparently all of the gains he made in plate discipline last year have disappeared.
  20. any reason that the live scoring says i have 5 PSR's when i've quite clearly only used one starter (mcclellan) this week? not to mention it showing tim having 6 left when he's used colon and latos.
  21. the flyers suck. i could see boston winning the cup, they're pretty solid all around.
  22. jae-hoon ha hit his fifth home run of the year in the first inning... off carlos silva  then walked in the third inning... that's his fourth walk in the last 8 games. lots of positives from him so far.
  23. Since when is a $20 bill shiny...Brian I would be careful...:) ok so it's not shiny :-) i'd send him an aussie $20 but those are actually worth something :P
  24. yeah those dodger baby blues are fuckin sweet
