  1. only to my teams. we'll never have that kind of revenge on miami, not that miami would even notice. =D>
  2. i'm sure you're right, but it's still annoying. it's like everyone remembers jordan against ehlo and russell and nobody remembers steve kerr or the 95 big shots that robert horry made.
  3. yeah, when everyone in the building thinks that the star player is going to shoot it. i really wish they'd use him as a decoy and get the ball to a shooter who nobody is guarding. anyway, bulls should go at bosh and try to get his 6th foul. with wade playing like crap that would put miami in a big hole.
  4. dwyane wade's sidekick sure seems to be shouldering a lot of the load again.
  5. you already should have quit after the heat-mavs and lakers-kings series several years ago.
  6. jae-hoon ha and nelson perez each hit their first AA home run. they're beating up on a very good pitching prospect too (randall delgado from the braves) robert coello is pitching terribly again. su-min jung got destroyed.
  7. i just hate these "is ____ the best in baseball" because they have a good month to start the season. yes he's playing awesome right now, give it a week and he'll be back to being pretty good.
  8. There's no way that I would trade Soto, but the Red Sox might offer a king's ransom for him. the red sox already gave up a king's ransom for adrian gonzalez, i don't think they have a king's ransom left in their system.

  10. fred wilpon may be a moron, but sandy alderson is not. maybe we can just try to deal directly with the wilpons and cut alderson out of the negotiations.
  11. apparently baseball-reference has garbage attendance figures then, since theirs lists 2.588 million as their 2000 attendance. but kyle is right, they drew big crowds in 2000 because they were really good the previous year. it's quite obvious that the a-rod signing stemmed the tide in 2001, because attendance plummeted in 2002 and 2003 (down to about 2 million) when the team continued to blow.
  12. didn't we do the same thing with castro last year?

  14. plus i think that a guy like pujols will pay for himself to at least some extent. think about it - carlos pena really isn't selling more tickets or merchandise on name alone. pujols definitely would. say you're talking about $10m for pena versus $30m for pujols. you're clearly going to have some increase in revenue from pujols that's just not there with pena. how much? i have no idea.
  15. that's crazy that there's someone inside your house holding a gun to your head and forcing you to read this thread.
  16. I wonder how much Ichiro brought in his first 5 or so years. I know he is a complete exception to the rule, but still curious. he might have done it, if only because you had japanese people and pac nw people buying mariners [expletive], and his salary was really low when he came over (less than $5m per year). but yeah he obviously is a huge outlier because he really had two fan bases, and also no asian position player had ever really had much success in mlb, so the big dollars weren't available to him until he proved he could hit mlb pitching.
  17. except for the part where ticket sales increased by a quarter million his first year there. then people realized "oh wait our shortstop is awesome but the team still sucks balls" and stopped coming.
  18. for God's sakes. no big time free agent in the recent history of baseball has ever singlehandedly been responsible for enough revenue to offset his salary. that's not how it works. at all.
  19. Because Garza is likely only to miss this start and they have an off-day tomorrow. whoa wait a minute someone earlier in this thread said "see you in 2013"... what's the real story here
  20. You know what I mean. When someone signs him, and Im sure they will. He must be at least a type B. that's still not how it works.
  21. joe morgan is that you?
  22. in related news - is asdrubal the best shortstop in baseball? no no no no his ops was below .700 last year, of course he's not. reason # a billion to not watch baseball tonight.
  23. i dunno, everything about their pitching staff just screams regression. very low BABIP, one of the lowest K rates in the majors, high LOB%, low HR/FB%... i get that they have some nice young arms on that club, but last year their pitching was just lousy and i don't see this year's team as being that much better.
  24. they don't automatically get draft picks when he leaves.
