  1. Oh please, don't be so literal and naive. What did you expect him to say, "We find your cheating to be rather unsportsmanlike, and would kindly request that you discontinue it, or you will leave us with no choice but to graze your posterior region with a softly-tossed breaking pitch." Don't be so naive to think a dumb, meathead relief pitcher wouldn't do it. plus the article repeatedly refers to him as "livid", "enraged", and he's swearing at bautista. i'm pretty sure there's something between that idiocy that davearm posted above and telling a guy that he's going to get beaned in the head. how about just telling him he's going to get drilled? why the head? but again, davearm probably knows this, and just posted something intentionally stupid to get people riled up. the terrorists win again.
  2. i dunno man, a college draftee with a 44 bb/263 k ratio just screams future star to me.
  3. bp did a top 10 cf prospect list, jackson was on it:
  4. wait wait wait. everyone needs to be aware that davearm2 - davearm2 - just instructed someone to stop being so literal and naive.
  5. there are other players on that team.
  6. lol but seriously, he is terrible and it's time that he stops getting chances.
  7. eagles signed former giants' wr steve smith.
  8. i think there's a big difference between joining an organization at 16 versus joining it at 21 after 3 years in the pac 10, so we'll have to agree to disagree.
  9. i'm not, just because he's the type of player who can succeed in the cubs' "hack at everything" system because he has such great contact skills. i'd be shocked if a guy with we developed a hitter like nick swisher or whoever... Or Brett Jackson? i'm not sure the cubs can claim a lot of credit for developing him since he's pretty much exactly the hitter that he was in college - except for maybe his power has come on more than people thought. soto is more a guy who developed in the cub system, since he was drafted out of high school and is a patient hitter.
  10. shelby miller tonight: 0.2 ip, 2 h, 4 er, 3 bb, 2 k. hopefully he keeps that up. edit - removed with "right hand aggravation"
  11. they really should have reed johnson floating on the waiver wire. i don't think they'd get much for him, but really, there's nowhere to go from here but down for him.
  12. i thought he said he was gonna be a cop after he retired
  13. i don't play golf regularly any more, but i played on my high school's golf team and did golf regularly several years ago. i couldn't tear myself away from the tv the year mickelson won his first major, or when woods was battling with mediate. that, to me, was really interesting, and i enjoyed it because the players were playing really good golf. but if one guy is just blowing everyone away... meh, i'll just watch the highlights to see a few of his awesome shots.
  14. daytona's first game was canceled (not to be made up) and second game was postponed :x candelario had a hit and two walks; some pitcher had 8 K's in 4 innings for dsl cubs 2. kirk got knocked around while peoria is being perfect-gamed through 5.
  15. The 2000 U.S. Open was one of the most amazing things I've seen in sports. Seeing someone dominate in that manner is astounding. He was 15 [expletive] strokes better than the best players in the world, it's absurd. i know, and that might be fun to watch if a round of golf didn't take 6 hours. i'm not going to sit there and watch tiger woods hit a shot every 15 minutes so i can marvel at how he's blowing away everyone else in the field. golf just isn't a dynamic enough sport for that.
  16. glad i held out for jason kipnis in the halladay trade. he's got 6 home runs in his last 10 games and a .966 ops since arriving in cleveland. i'm expecting ian kinsler-type production as a free keeper over the next 3 years.
  17. somehow i doubt this. one of these days we're going to have a fred post saying "Greetings one and all from beautiful Gary, IN !!!" why on earth would Fred stop in Gary long enough to post when he is so close to home? fair point. i was just thinking of the world place i've ever been.
  18. i'm not, just because he's the type of player who can succeed in the cubs' "hack at everything" system because he has such great contact skills. i'd be shocked if a guy with we developed a hitter like nick swisher or whoever...
  19. well this player isn't a lunatic or anything.
  20. i liked it when tiger played close tourneys and playoffs, etc... not so much when he was winning the masters by 12 strokes. sorry, that's just boring. i don't have to watch 5 hours of golf to see that a guy is awesome at it.

  22. No Richard Jones love? again, check his age and his BB/K ratio. he hits home runs but doesn't walk, and his good batting average this year has to be due to good luck on balls in play.
