  1. let's try to stay on topic dave
  2. Constant annoying misspellings like, say, mineaswell. so much whoosh
  3. he's got a long way to go to top yinka dare.
  4. yeah rather than going to the "hassle" of taking 10 seconds to look something up or rereading a post before hitting submit, mineaswell just annoy everyone on the board with constant misspellings and grammatical errors.
  5. wow what an inspired hire.
  6. Please. stop. posting. Seriously David? You want to associate yourself with the pathetic losers on here that think that schtick is funny? i doubt it was trying to be funny so much as a serious request. speaking of which, please stop posting.
  7. http://www.onionsportsnetwork.com/articles/norv-turner-fired-as-coach-of-chargers-right,26964/
  8. this cannot possibly be true, unless you're considering their prime to be like 8 years long.
  9. Are you hendry's son or something? You go above and beyond to defend him. Management didn't tell him to buy a winning team, they gave him significant financial resources and he did not build a consistent winner. His superiors didn't tell him to give soriano or zambrano those contracts, or to not develop a consistent star-level player in almost 10 years. nor, I suspect, did ricketts tell theo to completely rebuild. I would assume that if theo went and said "pujols is my guy" or "we need to bid very big on darvish," I'm confident that ricketts would have green lighted competitive offers. this is theo's choice on how to turn the franchise around - which, I will remind you, is necessary because your boy left things a mess.
  10. That's not unnerving at all. The difference between a 21-year-old in his first look at a league and a 29-year-old in his third is absolutely huge. That's a massive understatement. Unnerved because they looked similar at AAA with LaHair 29 and at his ceiling and Rizzo 21 and still developing? That's alarming? and I think he was saying he was alarmed by their stat lines looking so similar. oh no he had similar stats to the MVP of the pacific coast league, that's [expletive] terrifying. the k rate and the long swing are reasons to be concerned. there's not much fault to be found in his minor league stats though.
  11. how is that unnerving? rizzo completely raked as the youngest position player in AAA. it would be unnerving if lahair put up a .650 ops last year, but an ops over 1.000? yeah i'll take that.
  12. i'm not sure that blowing was part of the accusation.
  13. yeah i'm sure a major league organization is going to give hush money to a possible rape victim. sounds like a solid p.r. move. Hush money would suggest that it would have been given to her before the reports had actually come out. cash settlements are to avoid dragging a case to court when there's a good chance that there won't be a resolution. It's all a part of this wonderful land we call corporate america, and sports franchises don't react much differently when their best and brightest get themselves into trouble. so the cubs are just going to give her money to make the problem go away. wouldn't that seem to set a poor precedent? hey do whatever you want off the field, we'll pay off your victims.
  14. add "watching to see if starlin castro goes to jail" to the end of my list.
  15. yeah i'm sure a major league organization is going to give hush money to a possible rape victim. sounds like a solid p.r. move.
  16. do you really think the braves are going to make all those guys untouchable? are they planning to go with an 8 man rotation?
  17. the braves have like 35 young pitchers who are almost big league ready. they could quite easily trade one or two of jurrjens, beachy, minor, teheran, vizcaino and delgado. a few of those guys could easily serve as the centerpiece of a significant trade. the nationals just traded away half their good prospects to acquire gio gonzalez. john sickels ranked the four guys they dealt away as #3, 4, 6 and 9 in their system. so unless they're going to be trading harper or rendon, they absolutely do not have anything to acquire a significant player at the deadline.
  18. yeah i forgot about cashner - what his role will be, whether he'll be in the minors or majors, whether he can stay healthy.
  19. i wrote this a week ago... damn i'm good
  20. ok we don't KNOW it, but it's extremely unlikely. stubbs strikes out about as frequently a professional baseball player (who isn't a pitcher) can strike out.
  21. boston beat the flames 9-0 tonight. they have twice as many goals for as goals against, lead the league in goals per game and goals against per game. they're really damn good.
  22. rough day when the guy who routinely suggests preposterous 4 team deals is calling you delusional.
  23. so you think the cubs are going to be run as a small market team and never sign big ticket free agents any more? or just that you will be reading the same things on nsbb every offseason?
