  1. jake slaughter has been weirdly incredible for a guy who never looked like anything besides roster filler before this year. probably going to end up with 30 sb and 20 hr and his BB/K ratio has improved from a putrid 23/112 last year to 35/79 this year.
  2. i was gonna ask about perlaza, what's the story with him? is he kind of a high floor, low ceiling type of guy? because he's hit very well the last two years in leagues where he was a little younger than most players, and there aren't really any red flags (like an inflated strikeout rate or unsustainable babip) in his stats suggesting that he's a fluke.
  3. some mets prospect guy on twitter has been saying that PCA is "billy hamilton with a better glove," which is such a bad comparison that i wouldn't even know where to begin.
  4. luke little strikes me as a guy who, as long as he stays healthy, is highly likely to pitch in the major leagues. he's got big-time fastball velocity coming from a tall frame, and the strikeout rate and batting average against are elite. even if his command doesn't improve he should at least be a fastball-slider setup man or closer.
  5. should have listened to the world's top college football prognosticator.
  6. lots of killian videos in that thread.

  8. lol italy, scoreless draw with northern ireland. russia gave up an own goal in the 80th minute to croatia so they got leapfrogged by croatia for top spot, and russia is into the playoff.
  9. possibly the dumbest thing that rodgers said during that interview (Lord knows there were a lot of dumb moments) was when he said that "every member of the left" was anti-vax until biden won, and then they flipped. what horsefeathering planet is he on to believe that horsefeathers?
  10. pretty wild that matzek is pitching very high leverage innings through the entire postseason after about 5 years with rick ankiel/jason neighborgall disease and bouncing around various organizations and two stints in indy ball.
  11. my favorite part of that incident is how clemens started yelling at piazza that he thought it was the ball. like that's how you get a batter out on a grounder to the pitcher, bean the runner as he's running to first base.

  13. rany jazayerli points out that, while the check swing non-strike that was badly called will dominate the conversation, the two terrible strike calls against bryant were a huge moment. if eddings calls either of those correctly the giants have men on 1st and 2nd with 0 outs, which has a run expectancy of 1.37 runs and results in a run scored more than half of the time. instead bryant ended up striking out with the count at 5 balls and 0 strikes, which puts the situation at runner on first with 1 out. that has a run expectancy 0.489. those two bad strike calls very well may have cost the giants a run, if not multiple runs, in a very low-scoring game.
  14. doug eddings is just an objectively bad umpire. 12th worst in MLB in balls/strikes this year, or in the bottom 15%.
  15. this is pretty surprising and out of the blue. i was gonna say that maybe this is a gruden situation where he got caught being super racist, but that would probably just make him more popular among cardinal fans.
  16. eagerly looking forward to gruden's upcoming appearance on tucker carlson where he rails against cancel culture and political correctness.
  17. this guy owns.
  18. Ahahahahahahahahahaha \:D/
