  1. Oh horsefeathers off turner
  2. The Yankees aren’t even in my top 4 most hated teams in the playoffs Its funny knowing that there are adults old enough to drink that know nothing else than the Red Sox dominating the Yankees. How much the rivalry has flipped from October 2004 to now is crazy. The Red Sox completely own the rivalry now in terms of events over the last 17 years. It's what I was hoping the Cubs were on the verge of doing after the NLDS win over the Cardinals but doesn't seem to be trending in that direction. "closed the gap", man the yankees last world series win was in 2009. gap has been gone for a long time.
  3. hard to think of a better way to start the playoffs than the yankees and cardinals getting immediately eliminated. hopefully that’s how it pans out.
  4. super glad to see this rule. got really sick of watching guys who screwed up and let the shot clock get down to 2 pretend to be shooting a step-through 3 pointer from 35 feet and get rewarded with 3 free throws.
  5. with the loss tonight the cubs clinched the 7th draft pick/bonus pool next year.
  6. the tweet embedded in that article says "Country Joe" can be combative. But he's a good umpire." which is just objectively wrong, since he's consistently rated as below average (if not among the worst) on balls and strikes. he's a shitty umpire who's been around forever because MLB has zero accountability for bad umpires.
  7. By the way, the teams that can rightfully gloat about outperforming preseason projections are: Giants: 0.2% to win division, 5.7% to make playoffs (currently best record in MLB) Rays: 5.4% to win division, 26.6% to make playoffs (won division, best record in the AL)
  8. clutch loss, hopefully we can keep it rolling tomorrow.
  9. some clutch losses by the cubs lately. could conceivably catch the nats and marlins although the cubs have a series coming up with pittsburgh. also, the last series for the cubs is against the cards, who will likely have nothing to play for at that point since they'll be locked in to the second wild card position.
  10. was gonna say i'd be hoping for better than that, but then i looked him up and see that he had nearly 50 WAR in his career, so yeah i'd take that no problem.
  11. iowa's down 17-0 in the 4th inning.
  12. this may be true, which is pathetic considering the financial resources that the cubs have and the fact that they only have about $40 million committed to next year's payroll.
  13. mets fans are getting the real javy rollercoaster experience, and have gone from "wtf why did we trade for this guy" in august to "this guy is horsefeathering amazing, give him whatever he wants to stay" in september.
  14. hernandez will definitely be starting in full-season ball next year assuming that he's healthy, right?
  15. morel also hit two doubles, and nelson velasquez homered and doubled.
  16. not a bad way to hit your first professional home run.
  17. definitely have not heard of this guy who is pitching for the cubs.
  18. i guess cristian hernandez is pretty fast? he has 15 SB in 34 games. he went 2-3 with a walk today and is up to .278/.393/.435 for the season.
  19. wicks is done after the first inning, only threw 14 pitches.
  20. caissie hit his first home run at myrtle beach.
  21. dongs for preciado (#3) and ngowu (#9).
  22. yohendrick pinango has a hit and a walk in two plate appearances. he's really held his own (.280/.333/.380/.714) as an 18/19 year old in full season ball, especially after no baseball last year and only one half-year of professional baseball in the DSL.
  23. promising catcher willson contreras hit a dong for iowa.
