  1. I think Lou Holtz speaks more poorly than any commentator I've ever seen on TV. He sounds like he has a speech impediment. Go home Lou, get in your rocking chair, change your diaper, whatever... just get off my television.
  2. What about douchebag players and/or coaches? Same rules apply. . . their douchebaggery is their problem. I simply feel like it's more important to put your energy into supporting your team rather than degrading the opposition. What if your team is horrible and is managed by Dusty Baker?
  3. And has that model worked? I really don't see a point in following a model that hasnt worked. You dont need a superstar line-up to win. You also dont need to have a $200 million payroll to win either. Pitching comes first, then you go out and get your hitting. The. Cardinals. Didn't. Have. Great. Pitching. They didnt have great pitching, but their pitching stepped up when it matter the most. Which, in the end, gave them a World Series victory. What are you suggesting? The Tigers had great pitching and lost the WS. The 2nd and 3rd best pitching staffs (SD and Minnesota) got knocked out in the first round of the playoffs. The 4th and 5th best didn't make the playoffs. So, do the Cubs go out and try to build one of the best pitching staffs in baseball? Or do they just try to get an average pitching staff that somehow knows how to "step up when it matters the most"?
  4. South Carolina had terrible luck in the first half - two tipped passes intercepted by Tennessee, one run back for a TD, while the other Tennessee TD was scored on a tipped pass that fell into the arms of a receiver in the back of the end zone. Still, the Gamecocks played well in the 2nd quarter and it's 14-10 at the half. Good game so far... looking forward to the 2nd half.
  5. Since last week: -Flyers start out with the worst record in the NHL and fire their GM and coach -Eagles lose on 62 yard field goal -Went 1-4 in fantasy football last week -Recorded only my second negative score in pro football picks pool last weekend (in 4+ years and 70 weeks of picks) -Cardinals win the world series -En route to recording only my second negative score in college football picks pool today (in 4+ years and 50 weeks of picks) -Holy Cross, a spread offense team, plays Lehigh, a run-dominated team for first place in the Patriot League - and weather ends up being very windy and rainy. Lehigh runs the entire game and wins 28-14. -Flyers losing tonight 5-1 to the Penguins Beat that.
  6. Not if the mighty Ball State Cardinals have anything to say about it next week.....oh my goodness thats going to be bad. Has a football team ever won a game by more than 100 points? Michigan's offense isn't that great. Plus Lloyd Carr just runs the ball when he plays physically overmatched teams. Probably will only be a 30 point win by scUM. I predict 56-10 if Manningham plays, and I'd be shocked if he does. 45-10 if he doesn't. I'll be there so I'll be sure to report back on how much my friends and I are made fun of. Let us known how many Michigan fans are condescending to you and act like they're God's gift to the world because they go to The Harvard Of The West.

  8. In this evening's ACC coin flip, Maryland leads Free Shoes U., 17-7.
  9. What a great thread. But, you guys are missing the big picture. What wins championships is players who have clutchiness. Molina, Eckstein, Rolen - these are players with the clutchy gene. Same with Weaver, Suppan, Wainwright, Tyler Johnson - hell just about the entire Cardinals pitching staff has large clutchiness. By contrast, the Tigers exhibited a great deal of unclutchiness. In fact, Kenny Rogers is the only guy on that team who I can say is clutchy.
  10. I certainly would. Most of you guys on here are awesome fans and deserve a championship. Well, it's easy to say that knowing that the Cubs will never win a World Series, or even make it there for that matter.

  12. I wish the site giving us games to pick each week would stop giving us big 12 games. I mean, Texas Tech scores 3 points on TCU and 6 points on Colorado, and is unstoppable against Texas. They get blown out by winless Colorado, and now are going to beat Texas. I'd literally have as good of a chance to pick these games right by using a dartboard than by using any sort of logic.
  13. INT TD Texas Tech, so I guess we can bump Auburn or Louisville up to #4 after Texas is done getting clobbered in this one
  14. Too bad that defense left South Bend with 90 seconds remaining last week. agreed Not the players fault they went to prevent with a 3-man rush, they were put in a bad position. Bad playcalling on both O and D lost the game. well whatever the problem was, i'm not happy about it!

  16. I don't have either of those guys. My PF eligible guys are Chris Bosh, Carlos Boozer, Al Harrington, Marcus Camby, and Boris Diaw. I have a lot of pf/c eligible guys. I'll give you Joel Pryzbilla for Chris Bosh
  17. boy, I hope not. If they win, then the NY Giants and NJ Devils might as well win championships too, just to complete the torture. Oh, and Duke can win the NCAA tourney.
  18. great, Texas is gonna lose too... 0-3 in my Big XII picks today, fantastic. Might as well just flip a coin.
  19. gee really? Do you think Johnny Majors might have picked Tennessee to win too?
  20. meow meow meow meow meow meow meow meow meow meow meow meow meow meow meow meow
  21. never mind, but they have a realistic hail mary anyway
  22. this announcer is a complete idiot.... they have an onsides kick now, and are in FG range with the unsportsmanlike conduct penalty if they recover it
  23. obvious call
  24. wow, sick catch
  25. my hatred for the Big XII grows further Should've seen that coming, OSU took aTm to OT last week playing at home, and that was mostly without Reid. If the Cowboys hold on, next week's Mizzou-Nebraska game is basically a Big XII North championship game. That's kind of like being the smartest kid in remedial classes
