Minnesota's a pretty good team, so you're wrong there. The problem is their coach. A couple of years ago they blew a 21 point 4th quarter lead against Michigan. When he has the lead, Mason coaches the 4th quarter like he's about to wet himself. He's awful. A decent coach would've never let that game come to that. Minnesota's 6-7 and got plastered by the only good teams they played (Michigan, OSU, Wisco and Cal all beat them by at least 14, and other than Michigan, a home rivalry game, that margin was at least 25). If Minnesota is a good team, then there are about 50-55 great teams in college football. They're good enough to beat a mediocre Texas Tech team, obviously - the same Texas Tech that lost to Colorado by 24 points. I'm certain they're better than Texas Tech, but unfortunately Texas Tech has a real coach while Minnesota has a moron.

another good bowl pick sabotaged by an incompetent coach. thanks glen. i guess the good news for golden gopher fans is that this loss will be so egregious that even the minnesota administration and AD can't ignore how bad mason is now.

Can't say your 22 on Tech or your 26 on Purdont are looking too hot. Looks like you went with the wrong Big Ten team :wink: btw, between the drubbing of aTm, Mizzou's collapse and Texas Tech's piss poor performance, it hasn't been the best 24 hours for the Big XII Don't forget Rutgers pounding Kansas State. oops yeah that too... Okie State was their only win, at that came over a mediocre Alabama team without a real head coach.

Three 80+ yard drives that took less than four minutes??? Just don't even send the defense out on the field in the second half.

Minn nearly lost to North Dakota State at HOME on a missed FG at the end of the game. I didn't think the Gophers were this impressive... They're definitely not, but they did play Penn State tough. I think that loss really affected them because they didn't show up against Wisconsin and Ohio State, and as you mentioned, barely beat North Dakota St. They did get things straightened out at the end of the year with wins over Indiana, Moo and Iowa, and they needed all those wins to make a bowl. So, they're not bad - just inconsistent. And, Cupito is a pretty good senior QB, so I'm not surprised to see him playing well, especially against this lousy TT defense. Also, kudos to Purdont for giving up 250 yards and three touchdowns to the crappy Maryland offense in the first half. Nice D fellas.

I knew that was a bad line on the Minny-Tx Tech game (Minn finished with three solid wins, while Tx Tech didn't have any really impressive wins this year and did lose to Colorado). But I didn't expect this bad of a beating (knock on wood).

He didn't. The Cubs had asked him to cut short his season so he wouldn't be tired come spring training. Or maybe the Cubs just wanted to give him a face-saving excuse to walk away and quit embarrassing himself. Probably a smart thing for the org. to do. The Cubs said that in October, so that means they can see into the future. nah let's go with the completely irrational but more pessimistic explanation instead -
Go Gophers! That's my big upset pick... if I get that game right I'll move up (mostly by other people blowing a lot of points on Texas Tech)
