  1. all of this just underscores how patently moronic the service time rules are.
  2. lol, soriano had 6bb/71k ratio this year.
  3. funny enough, when BP did their 2012 re-draft they had russell as the player the cubs picked at #6 (so the 6th best player, at this time, from the draft). top 5 were zunino, buxton, correa, gausman, wacha. almora was #14.
  4. I included Soler because I automatically assume they'd want a RF replacement whose near MLB ready and also for the superficial reason that he's Cuban and they can market him to their fanbase. yeah, soler makes a lot more sense than someone like almora because soler would be blocked by stanton. sub out almora for soler. think that's a reasonable haul for stanton and a top MLB ready pitcher.
  5. Is this a trick question? If the Cubs can miraculously get Stanton while only losing Russell from that first lineup how do you possibly not do it? Everyone keeps talking about having all our guys in the lineup, but I think they use Russell as bait for a blockbuster. Russell, Soler, Almora (+ one of Johnson, Edwards, Tseng if it's required after that much). They can make that deal, and it would be fair value for Stanton, and it wouldn't even remotely cripple the Cubs at all. Having Russel in the system, to me, means the Cubs can make a deal like that and not even sweat it. i proposed baez, alcantara, p. johnson, almora, beeler for stanton and andrew heaney on the last page. just go for a mega-deal and grab a top pitching prospect as well as a beast in right field.
  6. http://www.milb.com/multimedia/vpp.jsp?content_id=34302825&sid=milb cameraman had no idea where the ball went, lol
  7. baez, alcantara, p. johnson, almora, beeler for stanton and andrew heaney.
  8. this makes our early 2000s super-system look like complete garbage. a lot of those guys were lower level talents. it's pretty great that our system is packed with prospects who are close to the majors. yeah there's bust potential there, but some of these guys are going to pan out and be really good, and we still have players in the low minors like schwarber, tseng, jimenez and torres who would be top 10 prospects in basically every other system in baseball. boy it sure is nice when players like brett jackson, vitters, candelario and christian villanueva start to suck, and it doesn't even matter.
  9. 1. bryant 2. russell 3. baez 4. alcantara 5. schwarber 6. almora 7. soler 8. mckinnon 9. edwards 10. pierce johnson that is a not a bad top 10.
  10. two at bats for eloy jimenez so far tonight - double and triple.
  11. baez has three 6-pitch plate appearances tonight (1 walk, 2 strikeouts - the last strikeout he took 6 straight pitches). the home run was on the first pitch of his first at bat.
  12. i don't understand how bryant maintains such a high batting average. it's like he either strikes out or hits the ball hard.

  14. i'm definitely on the alcantara bandwagon, but i wouldn't even go as far as top 20.
  15. i'd have a hard time coming up with a third cub in the top 20. it seems like almora should have fallen out, alcantara doesn't have a high enough ceiling, soler has hardly played, and schwarber is too new.
  16. oh yeah, it was a doubleheader. fail.
  17. the belgium coach looks like that eric bolling idiot from fox news. http://static2.hln.be/static/photo/2013/6/2/0/20130131140447/media_xll_5519715.jpg http://www.foxnews.com/on-air/the-five/sites/foxnews.com.on-air.the-five/files/styles/contributor/public/eric_0.png
