  2. especially the red hats on the players' heads
  3. Not sure. I don't think LT was a consensus #1 last season... Larry Johnson probably went #1 in more leagues, and Shawn Alexander was also in the mix. That was my point. LJ was the #1 last year (and then it was a fight between Tomlinson and Alexander for #2). In all my years of fantasy, the somewhat consensus #1 draft pick in football never ends up being the #1 fantasy scorer. My guess would be that Marshall Faulk would be the last consensus #1 pick in back to back years. Not necessarily the year he was traded from the Colts to the Rams, but then the next three years he had big years. Before the 2001 season he was undoubtedly the consensus #1; I'd guess that he also was a #1 on most boards before the 2000 and/or 2002 seasons.
  4. He's still perplexed as to why the Cubs would offer $5.25M for 2 years to a guy with a career OBP of .290.

  6. I guess we know what motivates Santana. I just lost a lot of respect for him. That quote there represents alot of things that are wrong with professional sports today. I guess we know that what motivates Santana is the same thing that motivates about 95% of pro athletes.
  7. hurry up and get this inning over with so e-patt can come to the plate
  8. Assuming this guy was around Seattle when Randy Johnson evolved into a great pitcher, that's beyond ridiculous. That's not what he's talking about. Randy Johnson was a flamethrower who became a great pitcher because he gained more control. With Frank Tanana, he's talking about a guy who threw hard at one point in his career, but lost velocity and still managed to be an effective pitcher.
  9. Maryland is still ranked behind Texas, Louisville and Marquette... wtf
  10. The only thing I really cared about from this game was Rich Hill's outing, since it appears the Cubs aren't bright enough to guarantee him a starting spot. Sounds like he had solid control and threw well, so I'm happy.
  11. Boy, I wasn't happy that the lower seed got to play the inferior team, and it sure showed today. #2 Bucknell had no trouble with #6 Army, while #4 American gave #1 HC a real tough game - not surprising, since American has played HC and Bucknell tough all year, taking HC to overtime once and losing by a total of 9 points in their two games against Bucknell. Our best player hit a runner in the lane with about 4 seconds left to give us the 2 point win. Wish they'd reseed after the first round, though. So, no shock to anyone - Holy Cross (24-8) versus Bucknell (22-8) for the final. Should be a really close, low-scoring game. I wouldn't have minded if Bucknell lost to Army, but really, this is the way it should have turned out. Both teams are 15-1 in the PL, and no other team finished better than 8-8. HC will also host the women's final. The top two PL seeds went out in the first round, Bucknell (20-10) somehow lost to Colgate (6-25) and Army (24-6) lost to Lehigh (11-19). So the PL final in "bitchball", as JR would call it, is HC (15-17) against American (13-18). I think the winner can head down to Durham and get crushed by Duke. Other thoughts... I'd be really surprised if Ga Tech isn't a lock at this point. They're playing well and have 8 wins against top 50 RPI teams. Also, Clemson really helped itself with a huge win at Va Tech. VT should still be in, but Clemson has at least given itself a shot. With a win or two in the ACC tourney, they can earn their way in.
  12. another team with the refs out to get them.... funny how nobody ever notices that the refs are boning over the team that their favorite team is playing against
  13. Well I've seen all that I need to see, E-Patt has earned the starting job at 2B.
  14. Nearly half of which came in 2004. He allowed 9 last year - 5 less than Pettitte. He's got a better career ERA+, WHIP, is a year younger, and is less of an injury risk. Why would I want Pettitte over Lowe? Because of his extremely lucky 2005 season?
  15. I'd rather have Derek Lowe than Andy Pettitte.
  16. i think i still like gallagher more than veal... it's close
  17. the cubs should put cesar izturis in the angels' locker room after the game and take maicer izturis with them, and hope the angels don't notice
  18. There's usually goals, assists, penalty minutes, plus/minus, power play points, and game winning goals. Crosby's leading the league in assists and is and power play points. He's a little down the list in goals (and GWG) and has a solid, but not spectacular, plus/minus. He'll take a decent number of PIMs for a skill player as well. I'd take him because he's so young and is still improving, and between Malkin, Recchi, Staal and Whitney, the Pens are loaded with offensive talent, much of it still quite young. I'd definitely take Pujols and Tomlinson #1. Basketball is not as easy. I think good arguments could be made for Garnett, Wade, Kobe, Nowitzki, even Shawn Marion.
  19. This sounds like a really low-selling special brand of deodorant.
  20. that's right, time to eat his contract and just admit the mistake
  21. oh good, now the post-dispatch will be able to talk about how awesome he is for "playing through the pain" all season Why on earth do you care so much? If some retards in the press want to act like he is anything more than a decent baseball player that is their problem. Just turn the channel or don't read the article. I'd say it's more than "some"
  22. I beg to differ... I picked Crosby.
  23. that's just the heartbeat of the old man you murdered and hid underneath the floorboards
