  1. everett probably could've run to first and beat floyd there
  2. And you, similarly, are not fair to our Cubs players. Think so? This is 2 games Howry has coughed up. No matter the ump, Adam Everett shouldn't hit home runs on you. ERA+ of 166, 146 and 146 the last three years. I wish the rest of our bullpen "sucked" that badly.
  3. to be fair to howry, he DID strike everett out
  4. according to the box score, he played RF yesterday. I can't imagine that he's even an average fielder out there, though.
  5. high school players fail at a higher rate than college players.
  6. Away from highschool players in general, look at our last few highschool drafted players yuck! we got Gallagher as a nice value pick in the later rounds.... I'm fine with doing that, but I want someone who's as safe as possible with a top 3 pick, not another Luis Montanez or Ryan Harvey
  7. boy, Iowa's entire lineup is not hitting right now. I'm sure the cold has something to do with it.
  8. 2-4 with a double and an opposite field HR that didn't look like it was hit that well. In the NSBB home run derby, I waited to see if he'd make the Pirates and hold down a starting job. He isn't starting and therefore I didn't pick him as my wild card, but he has amazing power. I saw him play in Altoona in early 2005, and he was just destroying that league. If his plate discipline is improved, he could end up being a really interesting player. It would seem that he's going to mostly spot start this year, unless Nady comes down with an injury.
  9. please stay the hell away from high school pitchers, at least with that first pick
  10. I would pick Cedeno. He should have been charged with that error too. No way are you going to turn a DP in that situation. Get atleast that out at 2b. Cedeno is proving that he is not a good player. fixed
  11. 2-4 today, 2 strikeouts. Also a pair of butchered plays in the outfield.
  12. wonder if their pitcher is related to the great hector
  13. nice to hear other teams' announcers referring to the cubs as an "offensive team"... they sure as crap wouldn't say that last year
  14. i don't know about you guys, but there's nobody i'd rather have up with the bases jammed than ronny cedeno
  15. Hopefully he's hittable, but yeah I'm definitely not holding my breath for Oswalt to not pitch well. He's rock solid... my pick to win the Cy Young this year actually. Not many people realize that his career ERA+ is basically equal to Clemens and Santana. Health permitting, he's a future Hall of Famer, no question.
  16. move e-patt to a warmer climate so that his games don't get colded out
  17. half of one of my fantasy pitching staffs is angels (lackey, santana, k-rod, escobar)
  18. A win is a win. Today's game means just as much in the standings as a game on Sept 25th. games in september count double now well let's take it easy on carlos and rich so they can go every three games in september. speaking of which, does anyone remember when the Cubs went to a three-man rotation (maddux, sutcliffe, bielecki) toward the end of 1989? they made the playoffs, but bielecki and sutcliffe were never the same.
