  1. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/columns/story?id=2844416 You don't have anywhere near it takes to get him. sure they do... they have pujols
  2. hey i don't like jacque jones, so i'll just call him an automatic out!
  3. 226 i'd probably select price ahead of wieters, though it'd be a close call. Doesn't matter, because both of them are not falling to #3. I'm just hoping that one of them does.
  4. This debate would be settled a lot more easily if Murton were actually a good player. I'm not saying he's bad, but he's no better than average, which makes it hard for me to wholeheartedly endorse him.
  5. mostly because braden looper, kip wells and adam wainwright will all end the season with an era under 2.00
  6. He'd have known the answer to that last year if the Cubs' management weren't so incompetent.
  7. Topic: Can anyone explain what people see in Rich Hill? oooh oooh i can answer this one!
  8. almost everyone recognized the inability of the cubs to get on base last year, and some of dusty's mind-dumbingly stupid comments -- "base clogging", "hitting, not walking" and "can't walk across home plate" -- have been roundly criticized. Now that he's out of a job, he almost has to recognize one of the biggest reasons that he was let go.
  9. Is E-Patt a little banged up? I noticed that he pinch hit the last two days, and is apparently not in the starting lineup today.
  10. what's funny is that the greatest success of the jim hendry era may end up being his recognition of rich hill's talent, and his refusal to trade hill when a lot of people had already written him off
  11. here's my most prophetic statement about Hill... though my optimism was guarded (as it should always be for any Cub fan):
  12. this isn't very nice... think about how you felt with dusty baker as your team's manager. This is how Phillies fans are feeling right now.
  13. okay well i guess we'll see if the jets are still present
  14. he has 1 hit in 20 ABs, and was one of the worst players in baseball last year... I'd say his presence on the team is a pretty big worry
  15. draw up a list of about 5 guys and PM it to someone after you... then they can take the top guys still available on that list
  16. not picking on any particular poster - it's just fun to read this stuff given how the kid is throwing these days
  17. More fun reading And another
  18. Another classic Rich Hill thread
  19. the flaw in what you've written here is the assumption that charlie manuel has an active brain cell
  20. I suppose that's a true statement. Some might argue that 220 IP out of one of your best pitchers is better than 70 IP, but those people aren't stupid, so Manuel isn't persuaded. On ESPN they showed the high/low lights of the argument he got into with the reporter and he said: "I done growed up a long time ago" Where is he from West Virginia? close -- buena vista, virginia, which is up in the Blue Ridge Mountains. How do I know this? Because on the way to Florida last year, I drove through Buena Vista, Virginia, and there was a sign upon entering the town that read "Home Town of Philadelphia Phillies Manager Charlie Manuel." My first reaction: "Is that really something worth bragging about?"
  21. the cubs could get on a huge winning streak if they could manage to get four rainouts in a row after every rich hill start
  22. D-??? Come on. If you're comparing her to models, then yes, her face is a D-. But she's not worse than average looking. D- and F should be reserved for the true uggos.
  23. while I can understand if you loved him as a prospect a year ago, you're demented if he was your favorite cub a year ago. totally bonkers with a 0.28 ERA, 0.64 WHIP, 8.4:1 K:BB (that was a comment on Piniella skipping him, btw) You mean because of his struggles? Many of us stood by his side defending him. Even during the struggles. . I noticed that your prediction for his 2007 ERA dropped to 2.42 from around 4.10 recently
