  1. i should start a rex grossman discussion thread
  2. count me in as "don't care"
  3. Oh good Lord no. Catchers tend to decline quickly, usually in their early to mid 30s, and Kendall has shown signs of falling off a cliff this year. He's going to be downright awful in the next year or two.
  4. yeah houston might as well spot the brewers 6 runs and put a long reliever into the game. Braun vs Wandy = batting practice.
  5. and of course he hits a home run
  6. Well given that he has a career .366 OBP and .804 OPS in the minors, I'd say yes, the do suggest that he projects as something more than a "decent back up infielder." Meanwhile Ronny's career numbers are considerably worse - not necessarily a fair comparison because Cedeno started out in the minors when he was 18 and has always been young for his level, but the fact remains that Fontenot exhibits better patience, and his ability to not swing at everything means he hasn't been exploited at the big league level like Ronny has.
  7. marquis is pitching? mets have a lefty pitching? cubs lose.
  8. .360/.424/.543 Cedeno in AAA .361/.403/.565 Pie in AAA Cedeno was playing better than Pie in AAA and just got called up. Calling Pie up would make sense, but not for Cedeno. They're better off dumping Fontenot or Pagan if that happened. Those two are worthless. Yeah Fontenot and his 111 OPS+ and .280 EqA are worthless, but sure let's keep Cedeno, a guy who had a .210 EqA last season. I sure am glad you're not running the Cubs.
  9. You have to consider that the Smokies were going against the best pitcher in the Southern League last night in Chris Mason. He was TB's 2nd rounder in 2005 and just became the first 13-game winner in the SL with the league-leading ERA of 2.41. I'm really anxious to see Tampa in a few years when Niemann, Price, McGee, Mason & others make it to the bigs. and possibly pedro alvarez too.
  10. we have one of the worst catching tandems in baseball, and the leading OPS player in the Pacific Coast League - who happens to be a catcher. What a joke.
  11. thanks a bunch phillies, you a-holes
  12. hold on phillies. oh and i was shocked to see that braun hit a homer off hamels (lhp)
  13. Piggy, Cherry, Rapada, and Marmol will be fixtures in our BP for years to come. disagree. Marmol probably, the others I doubt it.
  14. i see we're ridiculing people's religious beliefs now... that seems appropriate.
  15. the 15 inning loss to the pirates was also horrendous. That had the classic "2nd and 3rd no out" in the 8th inning and the cubs managed to not score. I knew right away when that happened that they'd blow the one-run lead in the 9th, and sure enough, they did. So predictable.
  16. What has Howry done wrong? i think synergy slept through the past two months
  17. he'll sign. It'll all happen pretty quickly for the top-of-the-first-round picks.
  18. I don't think it really matters who closes. But Marmol is the guy who's pitching the best, along with probably Howry. They should be facing the middle of the other team's order; let the other guys take on the 6-9 hitters when possible.
  19. Nice, maybe they are turning things around. nope, they're 0-2 in their last two. circling the drain.
  20. anybody who plays catcher for the cubs
  21. yeah i like EqA a lot, but the problem is that a lot of people don't understand it.
  22. he's also striking people out, which means he's not just getting lucky on balls in play. But his walk rate is still bad.
  23. yeah, your point was a pretty simple one and an accurate one. The Cubs aren't playing great baseball like they had for the previous month and a half. You really shouldn't have been jumped on and told to "give it a rest."
  24. it's just the same crap with jones every day. Maybe one hit, no power, not much defense. He's a waste of space.
