  1. if jock is on this team as a starting outfielder next year i'm going to lose it
  2. pie just doubled in a run... honestly i was in favor of keeping jock in CF but he's so bad now, might as well just call up pie and let him play every day. jock just can't hit any more.
  3. God jock is terrible... somehow he aged 15 years between 2006 and 2007
  4. tight zone... the first pitch looked like a strike, but balls 3 and 4 were both off the plate. Not by much though.
  5. how can floyd make mediocre contact and hit the ball that far... and yet still never hit home runs?
  6. i'll be shocked if uncle cliff doesn't ground into a double play
  7. someone please pay a visit to the crawford boxes
  8. theriot is the only guy on this team who's hitting worth a damn lately
  9. I think Ned Colletti is very underrated, at least when it comes to the awful GM conversation. A rich farm system and large payroll are really masking what a moron he is, IMO.
  10. yeah Lou really needs to get off the whole "loading the lineup with righties against LHP." UK (PingHitter) made this point and the Astros' announcers also talked about it yesterday - the opposing pitcher keeps facing guys from the same side of the plate, so he can really get in a rhythm and keep attacking those batters the same way. I'm not saying the Cubs should play Jones - he's just awful against LHP - but Fontenot and Floyd do not have extreme L/R splits. I'd like to see one of them (preferably Fontenot since I'm pretty sick of Floyd's anemic bat) in the lineup against lefties.
  11. There's a difference between optimism and blind faith. Not every single move the Cubs make has to be defended. patterson has a more patient approach at the plate... it's certainly possible if not probable that he'll adjust more quickly to major league pitching
  12. guess you're not too attached to marmol then
  13. stairs could be useful, dunn obviously would be. conine and monroe, run away.
  14. what's the point of keeping a washed-up mike stanton? they should just release him or try to trade him, and call up a young guy who can spend the rest of the year in the bigs. Might as well experiment for next year, b/c this year is over for the Reds.
  15. why would you put your best hitter in the #8 hole?
  16. pass on wily mo... that's great that he can hit the ball far but unfortunately he doesn't make contact or walk enough to really make him worthwhile
  17. yeah add me to this group... unfortunately we'll have to wait until the offseason becuase there's no way he's clearing waivers
  18. The Houston announcers said that Brenly had people look into the foul ball thing, and the Cubs pitching staff has given up more foul balls than any team in baseball. But again, I'm not sure if this is true or not - sort of taking Brenly's word on this.
  19. well supposedly eric is playing tonight, so you can bet that my slate is clear from 8 until i have to go to work!
  20. can't believe i have to go to work and possibly miss eric's first big league at bat
