  1. hopefully the taste in my mouth isn't too bad from this series when i go see the cubs in pittsburgh friday. I guess on the good side, one-pitch rich is on the mound, and the only Cub game I've attended this year happened to be his most dominant outing (@Atlanta in June).
  2. yeah clemson is pretty solid but the noles look AWFUL
  3. well i'll probably start it a little before then, because I'm going to do about 3 per month. That'll be 3 months, then at the end we can do a top 20 overall player list... if I start after the super bowl, we'll already be into baseball season. I'd start it in November after the World Series ends. yeah that's the plan... a lot of "no" votes, but plenty of "yes" votes too, and the main thing was to see if there were going to be enough people participating to make it worth my time. Maybe once I kick this off, the mods can sticky the threads while voting is still active.
  4. i guess he must be hurt again
  5. hey I don't know if this was recorded - it hasn't been changed on my "official" team in the HR derby thread - but I did this on August 8: if it hasn't been recorded, i should have a grand total of one additional home run. I need a late push from Ryan Howard or Justin Morneau, someone like that.
  6. that is unbelievable what ceda did the second half of the year... i'm surprised this hasn't gotten more press
  7. great work today z, thankfully the other teams in our division suck too
  8. Maybe if he had go-go-gadget arms. Pujols veered off to the left and clearly wasn't going for the base, he was running right at Phillips. Next time he does that someone should put a baseball in his face, because he's asking for it with that type of maneuver.
  9. Iowa's games have become much, much less interesting since August 31. On the good side, Donaldson has been really impressive at Boise. Some would say that has an SEC player he should be beating up on rookie ball competition, but if he had enough ABs to qualify he'd be leading the league in OPS by a pretty large margin. He's shown good athleticism (6 SBs, 2 triples) and a pretty good glove (only 4 errors, after being charged with 15 last season at Auburn). Plus the .463 OBP is pretty nice too. I suspect that he'll be on the fast track after this performance, and probably starts out 2008 in Daytona.
  10. i hope michigan never wins another game
  11. ankiel is moving up my hatred list very rapidly
  12. Hi folks.... I'm doing a fleaflicker keeper league with my roommates and other assorted friends from grad school. Because everyone I know seems to be in too many leagues than they can count, I'm having trouble finding an 8th for the league. I need one more person for the league - looking for someone who considers themself pretty knowledgeable when it comes to football and fantasy football. I'd also like someone who can be present for the draft, which is scheduled for tomorrow night (Monday night) at 8 PM EST. If you'd like to join, send me a PM with your e-mail address and I'll invite you to the league. I'm hoping that someone will be able to stick with their team for at least 3 years, but if you decide to drop after this year, I can have someone take over your team. At least try to give them something good to work with though!
  13. cool, at least that rolls the lineup over
  14. yet two happened today without him even touching the ball. maybe we need to make the pickoff move to second when theres a runner on first
  15. if a player with any sort of speed gets on first base while kendall is catching, the cubs should just save him the effort and allow him to walk to second.
  16. it's hard to walk hunter pence once in a game, let alone twice
  17. his SLG is .384, that's extremely pathetic for a corner outfielder. Especially one who's supposed to be a "power hitter"
  18. floyd needs to go the route of barbaro... off to the glue factory for you old man
  19. time for some more wicked foul balls followed by a tapper to first
  20. hey look at that, someone went up to the plate with a plan of not swinging at every turd the pitcher throws up there, and something positive happened
  21. it'd also be nice if the offense would score a few runs early in a game so that the starting pitchers have some margin for error
  22. ball was hit right at theriot, outfielders didn't react quickly because they probably figured he'd catch it since it was right at him.
