    The only bad thing about this is that when they kill us (which will push us to 0-3 by the way, because there's no way in the world that we're beating you guys next week), it'll be doubly depressing. yeah but really this hasn't stopped being fun as hell. I mean seriously, Appalachian State. Their fight song is probably "Dueling Banjos"

    I'd say this was due mostly to his age (21-22) and sporadic usage patterns as a Rule V pick. As he's matured, his walk rate has come down steadily. Of course, one could argue that Marmol, as a converted catcher, is still learning to be more consistent with his release point, and could develop the control that Santana has. The idea is intriguing, and if I were the Cubs, I might revisit it during spring training next year.

    Miguel Olivo is bad. His career OBP is .274. Soto has walked 53 times in 110 games with Iowa; Olivo has walked a grand total of 66 times in 539 major league games. Not good.

    Umm, okay. To answer the question, no, he won't get any votes. But we wouldn't be in first place without him. we wouldn't be in first place without lee, ARam, hill, zambrano or lilly either... no mvp candidates in that list either

    this will make it nearly impossible for the cobs to keep him in iowa next year... a lot of fans and beat writers might be unknowledgeable about minor league happenings, but an MVP at the level just below the bigs can't be ignored
