  1. I hate the Marlins, and all five of their fans.
  2. Please show me how Corey has been unwilling to change lately. There's quite a difference between unwilling to and trying to but not having success. Are you saying Corey is simply not talented enough then? BTW, It's not that hard to shorten your swing. Corey's swing remains one of the longest, loopiest swings in the big leagues---just as it was when he entered the league. I noticed a mechanical difference in his swing this season actually. He used to take one of his hands off the bat after he swung. Now he keeps both hands on the bat all the way through the swing. It didn't seem to help obviously.
  3. We've been saying that a lot lately unfortunately. He had a pretty good day yesterday.
  4. where have you been? that's the cubs' philosophy on trading their players. see farnsworth, sosa, cruz, hawkins, etc. Yeah, glad that Hawkins trade netted us a load of nothing. I assume that you are being sarcastic....? I think that is quite obvious. I think the Farnsworth deal was pretty good so far for the Cubs as well. Explain that one to me.
  5. Murton has had exactly 1 decent game so far, let's not proclaim him an All-Star quite yet. As for trading a lefty, Burnitz or Walker would net us a lot more than Hollandsworth would. Todd H. would probably net a low level prospect (or two), but not much else. Decent? Please. He had a great game. Is it really that difficult for you to say that a rookie had a great game?
  6. Willis I could you see your point, but Garland? http://baseballreference.com/g/garlajo01.shtml This JON GARLAND? This season is SO OUT OF WACK for Garland is not even funny. I don't miss Garland. Yah, even if the Cubs stuck Garland in the starting rotation to begin with, they wouldn't have been nearly as patient with him as the White Sox were.
  7. And Brendan Harris. And Justin Jones
  8. Good to see that Bowden is still a moron. Remmy and Gremlin for Wilkerson and Cordero.
  9. I know he threw the meatball on a 0-2 count, but shouldn't Barrett or mgmt get some of the blame for calling for that pitch? You can clearly see in the replay that Barrett setup up and in. Novoa just didn't hit his spot.
  10. Novoa's ERA coming into tonight was around 2.50. Glendon Rusch is getting rocked as well. I hate to say it, but I'd trade him..he's the odd man out in the rotation and he's not nearly as good of a bullpen pitcher as he is as a starter. and Dusty making a double switch in the 8th inning, down by 4. Very smart tough guy. Novoa's ERA is deceiving. It's small sample size, plus look at all the walks.
  11. I still don't understand the Baez love. I've seen him pitch a lot. His numbers look decent, but look at them away from Tropicana. Cubs should just go after a SU man instead of overpaying for a mediocre closer like Baez.
  12. 161 big league ABs is ample opportunity to prove himself? He still needs time to adjust. Perhaps he'll end the season with something like .233/.318/.414/.732. Those were Lee's stats in his first full season, and the Marlins didn't give up on him. Plus, Hollandsworth is more valuable coming off the bench. Dubois and Cedeno should both be starting.
  13. Where was that hit when men were on base, Neifi?
  14. .228/.263/.380/.643 Why do we want that near the top of the order? I'm not a big fan of Soriano. He's easily one of the most overrated players in the game.
  15. Not really. I'd stick Hairston at 3B before I give Macias the start.
  16. Plus, why would they want Welly? He's exactly the type of pitcher they don't need. Mitre would make more sense for them.
  17. His career road splits: .260/.311/.485/.795
  18. Now that Sosa is out of the NL, who starts in RF? My vote goes to Abreu.
  19. Or one of the worst in the league in OBP. Low OBP is going to kill this team again.
  20. Knee ligament strain according to WSCR.
  21. How would you feel about Matsui, Walker, Aramis, Beltran, Lee, Patterson, Barrett, Dubois? I'm sure that could be arranged if Sammy is shipped out to the Mets for Matsui. I'd love it. But why would the Mets make that deal? Why wouldn't they just sign Beltran themselves? Or Richie Sexson? or Carlos Delgado? or JD Drew? Etc... I would say a big reason would be that obviously the player has to WANT to go to the team. I would say that would make it diificult to sign most of them. Not impossible, just difficult. In addition, none of them would put butts in the seats like Sosa would. More butts equals more money equals more revenue equals better teams equals more butts equals.............you get the idea. Money makes a guy want to go to a team. It's why A-Rod went to Texas. It's why Mike Hampton went to Colorado. It's why Pudge went to Detroit. NYM has a lot going for them. They have a lot of money available and they have some key guys that are young and inexpensive. Why wouldn't a guy want to play for the Mets? I guess I just can't grasp why the Mets would skip out on all the big name free agents and give up some of their players for a guy who is clearly not the same player he once was. Because Sammy might bring more people to the park than someone like Beltran will.
  22. How would you feel about Matsui, Walker, Aramis, Beltran, Lee, Patterson, Barrett, Dubois? I'm sure that could be arranged if Sammy is shipped out to the Mets for Matsui. I'd ask for Reyes before Matsui. Doesn't mean I'd get him, but I'd at least ask. I don't know if Matsui's defense is good enough at short. I'd put him at 2b and then look for another shortstop.
