Braves games to nearly disappear from WTBS

-TBS will show 70 games in 2006 & 2007, 45 a year in 2008-2012

-ESPN's contract with MLB allows it to put 150 games on other cable networks besides ESPN. TBS could have carried 90 games a year in past years, but has chosen to show less. In 2008, this leaves 105 games available for another network starting in 2008.

-Two suitors are News Corp. and Comcast. News Corp. would still like to create a direct competitor to ESPN, Comcast would use OLN or create another network.

-The NFL could become an equity partner in either News Corp's or Comcast's new channel venture.

WGN and WTBS, at the behest of MLB, have generally gone together down the path of fewer national games in recent years. This could portend more dissatisfaction for Cub fans who rely exclusively on WGN for their Cubs fix.

My advice: get your dishes up and running. MLB's small-timers won't be pleased until every last "injustice" is righted in the realm of out-of-market fan generation.
