It's official.. City Council will meet on Friday to take the vote to determine if the Jaxx remain in West Tenn or go elsewhere.

Thanks for the update, Ron. If there's anything else I can do, let me know.

Here's the recap from the council meeting yesterday. The council will vote on Friday to determine the fate of the Diamond Jaxx. On a very positive note, the Jaxx could be staying for 4 years, with an additional year added if the attendance at the gate averages 2,500+.

For those closer to the situation, what are the other possible locations for the Jaxx if they leave Jackson. I know Macon, Georgia has been mentioned, but have there been exploratory talks with any other communities?

Wow. So, what is the word on where the DJaxx will move if they can't agree to a lease?

Not sure. I'm guessing they could have an impromptu move to that other city they have talked with. Either way, hopefully people can now see why the Jaxx were having troubles.

My family is from the Jackson area ( several generations ). Having attended several games at Pringles Park I am appalled by the lack of attendance in the last 2 years. The Cubs have put a good product there and I blame the mayor, city council, present ownership for not promoting the product. At least Farmer said he's not running again.

First, welcome to the forum!

Second, you just hit the nail right on the head!

EDIT- By "hit the nail on the head", I mean in regards to the city. I don't see how the jaxx could have done a better job in promotion. Putting a winner on the field should pack the seats.

Excellent! You must be relieved!

Welcome to the forums! I don't live in the area, but I've been planning on making a trip there sometime this summer to catch a few games.

Wow, nothing is coming easy for the Jaxx

And you thought it was "Play Ball!"

The Diamond Jaxx still do not have a signed Pringles Park lease agreement from the city, despite City Council members voting unanimously last month to approve the number of years contained in the lease agreement.

Don't you just love politicians??

This is amazing, simply amazing. Nothing like the city officials voting unanimously in favor of a lease agreement, just to have this happen. I hate that you guys are having to go through even more nonsense.

Hasn't mayor farmer stated that he is finished after this term?

That's what he says.. although it wouldn't surprise me to see psycho Chuckie to run again. I'm telling you, this guy has no clue how to run a city.

I wouldn't be surprised if he ran again as well.

I've said several times that I hope people can see the true colors of the officials in Jackson during this stretch and that the past problems haven't been due to a lack of effort by the Jaxx, but a lack of support from the city. I thought and hoped the page was turned and that all of this was over. I wonder why there's the sudden concern over the city to have the first right to buy the team. If the city does their part and supports the franchise, the team being sold won't be a factor.

Ding, Ding, Ding, Ding... we have a winner. Obviously you have common sense.. something Mayor Farmer and city council don't have.

It personally annoys me that they postponed the vote in December, voted a month later, and voted in favor of the original proposal submitted by the team. I can't imagine how tough it had to have been going through the holidays not knowing what was going to happen. Knowing their lack of consideration in that regard is my biggest frustration. Adding the fact that you guys have 1 less month to prepare is another frustration, but secondary to the concern for the people in the organization.

I did hear/have read some great comments during all of this. There was one guy on a local forum griping about the Jaxx GM because he never keeps the good players and the team is never the same year after year. The comments that an independent league team would thrive in Jackson was amusing as well.

Hang in there, and be sure to give our support to the rest of the office.
