Whats the average area of a strike zone?

I am setting up a pitching net and im at the part where you put the strike zone with some ribbon.

 

Does it depend on a player's height? Or is it a fixed area? and what is the average area?

just measure a person of average height (for the age group you are talking about) to get the vertical dimension.

I'd say put it from the upper part of the shin/lowest part of the knee to just below the waist. Make it the width of the plate or maybe an inch or two wider.
