Ugh, just saw the lineup. I could see maybe starting some journeymen to showcase them for a trade, but they have to have some market value or it's goofy to play them at all. At this point I'm sure Holla's trade value is close to zero, and a few good games won't change that.

I disagree, this season notwithstanding, he has some value and the Cubs should try to get something for him. Afterall, he's a decent utility player and a career .304 pinch hitter. They might as well showcase him...

the ESPN announcers are talking like Nomar is gone at the end of this season. man, he can swing the bat.

i wish we had a place to put him. ARam at 3B and Cedeno at SS leaves no room for a often hurt nomar.

Nomar needs to go to an AL team in need of a 3B. In the AL he can DH part-time, and he had all his success in the AL anyway. He's had nothing but bad luck in the NL.

I hope Hendry trades him.

Agreed but does that mean Hairston is our everyday second baseman next year?

I was being sarcastic. It would be a waste of resources for the Cubs to trade him and make another hole on the team. Hairston isn't healthy enough to play everyday.

Holla's measly 900K salary is a decent indicator of how MLB general managers valued his talents in the offseason, and that was after he put up some excellent numbers filling in for Sosa in 2004. By now his stock must be much lower. I'd estimate he's a 500K scrub now in the eyes of MLB GM's. No one is going to get excited about him.

I dont know... Walker has a great bat but his defense (along with Nomar and Aramis) is shaky at best. He also has limited range. If the Cubs have the opportunity to get a more defensive oriented infield (at short and second) then I think they should move in that direction. This team has to improve defensively.

Wuertz is another walk machine...

I hate to see any combination of Wellemeyer and Wuertz.

And Williams and his 3 BBs in 1.2 IP.

Oh I didn't forget Williams pathetic showing. I just think it's worse for relievers to walk batters.

The salary of a utility player isn't necessarily an indicator of his real worth to a team. I stand by my belief that Hollandsworth has value and that some team(s) would like to have him.

Improving IF defense is all well and good, but the offense is easily the biggest weakness of this team. Walker brings more to this team in his offense than he takes away with his defense - trading him away and creating another hole would be counter-intuitive.

Only 4 more solo HRs to tie the game, guys!
