Last year that is all i heard....they are trying too hard....now you got Aramis not running to 1B, Lawton dogging it on fly balls....pitchers not covering first on ground balls to the right side....but at least they are not trying too hard......or it seems trying at all....

This is a team that is playing like they know they are out of it. It's a classic case of going through the motions. The season changed after Barrett made that horrendous play in Philadelphia.

In all fairness the season was already pretty bad before that bonehead play by Barrett. To say that was were the season turned is foolish IMO.

the only reason they are out of it is due to the fact they are playing this way...and anyway, i dont care if they are out of it...THEY SHOULD TRY HARD ALL THE TIME....Play Murton, he hustles.....if A-Ram is too hurt, sit him down.....

So using our logic, then Kerry Wood and Mark Prior should be immune from further criticism from you if they shut it down due to arm/shoulder/any other pain, right?

The hustle thing is getting way overblown. If the team weren't in the midst of a free-fall, many of these things people are complaining about wouldn

t matter. No one would care, no one would notice, but since the team sucks right now, people are projecting whatever they want onto the players.

I have no doubt the players are trying. However, it isn't translating into wins. It doesn't mean they don't care, it doesn't mean they aren't trying, and "hustling" more isn't likely to get them out of this streak.

There's no secret formula to winning baseball: Good pitching, consistent hitting and a little luck. Right now the Cubs have none of these things, and that's why they're not losing. Not because the players "look" like they aren't trying. The only reason it looks like that is because they aren't winning, and not the other way around.

A-ram walking down the first baseline with his bat in tow=NO HUSTLE

Lawton giving up on fly balls=NO HUSTLE

this thought that if they were not in a free fall these things would not matter, i disagree...if the cubs were not in a free fall...these things would still matter, but i think they would not happen, or they would happen less... in the middle of a loosing streak, the mistakes are pronounced, but if they were winning, they would be hustling IMO....

as far as wood and prior, if you are too hurt to produce or too hurt to help the team, then sit....dont go out there and hurt the team and maybe yourself....

This season has never turned. It's been going the same direction all year long: Nowhere.

Can't disagree.
