I know there are lots of factors that go into a team winning, but I find it interesting that the Cubs snapped out of a losing streak when Dusty put Murton in the lineup. It seems to me the Cubs had a pretty good streak earlier in the year when he made Dubois his regular LF. Of course Murton has done very well for 2 games, so now let's sit him down against another lefty.

yes, it's a coincidence. hollandsworth wasn't the reason the cubs lost 8 straight.
Hollandsworth also wasn't the reason the Cubs are, more than likely, going to win three straight as well.

I heard in a Jerry Hairston interview on the score that after the team heard the news of Corey and JD being sent down there was a players only meeting and that it really woke the team up. It's probably not so much Murton as much as the shaking up of things.

I hope nobody is suggesting that 1 rookie going 2 for 4 is the difference in the team's performance in Florida as opposed to the series in Atlanta.....

I believe they meant there was a correlation between the two occurances. Like: Hendry sent a message to his team; thus they responded.

And the moment of open-mindness shown by Dusty to try something new ---playing rookies.

I think it helps having the 1-2 guys actually get on base in front of the big hitters. Hairston and Walker were right in the middle of most the scoring the last three games, it seemed.

Which goes back to what I said that out of all the problems we had, it was the players not producing that was the biggest.

It probably has something to do with not having two sub .300obp players 1-2 in the order.
