Derik Alcántara had a monster game, Cam Smith played in the field and Eli Lovich made his debut:

Derik Alcantara went 5-5 with three singles, a double, and a triple, stole a base, scored a run, and drove-in three, and Geuri Lubo collected three singles, stole a base, and scored two runs for the ACL Cubs in a losing cause.

The game was pre-planned as an eight-inning contest.

After serving as the DH in his pro game debut on Thursday, Cubs 2024 1st round draft pick Cam Smith started Saturday's game at 3rd base and played the hot corner for five innings, before moving to DH. He batted six times in the game and went 2-5 (both hits were singles) with an RBI. He also reached base on an HBP. The Cubs are clearly trying to maximize his plate appearances in ACL games before he moves up to Myrtle Beach next week.

Cubs 2024 8th round draft pick Edgar Alvarez also played the entire game (just like he did in his pro game debut last Thursday), so he may be headed to Myrtle Beach, too. Alvarez walked three times in five plate appearances (he is a VERY selective hitter), and played first-base for five innings before moving over to third base when Smith took over as the DH. Alvarez won an ABCA Rawlings Gold Glove in 2024 at 1st base, and apparently the Cubs want to find out if he can play 3B, too.

Two Cubs 2024 draft picks made their pro debut in the game...

18-year old Eli Lovich (Cubs 2024 11th round draft pick - Blue Valley West HS - Overland Park, KS) played CF for five innings and went 0-3 (reached base on an error, flied out to CF, and grounded out 4-3). He also lost a fly ball in the sun (welcome to Arizona, Eli!).

And 6'2 230+ Cameron Sisneros (Cubs 2024 14th round draft - East Tennessee State) was the DH for the first five innings and went 0-2 (P-6 and F-8) with a walk. He is definitely a "wide-body," that's for sure.
