The Cubs optioned Ronny Cedeno to West Tenn today, which is a surprising promotion for a player that had a .552 OPS last year in Daytona. It seems the Cubs have continually been overly aggressive with promoting Cedeno past assignments he was ready for, not to mention putting him on the 40 man roster.

Do you have any insight into the Cubs handling of Cedeno?

They really like him. That's too aggressive but doesn't mean he'll necessarily open the season there.

Are Ryu's splitter and change good enough pitches to make him a #2 or does he profile more as a #3? Is his curve a good enough putaway pitch to lefties if not?

Thanks again.

Could be a No. 2, more likely a No. 3. Wouldn't be shocked if he gets traded this year.

It strikes me that Wylie and Leicester have similar stuff and ceilings, only Wylie is more polished at a younger age. Fair?

Yes, that's very fair. I really like Jason Wylie.

I think that's it, and I enjoyed it. If you ever have any more Cubs questions, submit them for Ask BA at askba@baseballamerica.com. I know many of you do already. And thanks to everyone who has bought the Prospect Handbook, both a source of great pride and the bane of my existence during the winter. Those who haven't, get one today!

Thanks again for coming Jim!

And I second the opinion that anyone interested in reading up on the prospects here on NSBB should invest the money in a BA Prospect Handbook. There's no more definitive source of information out there.
