So, in a 16 team league, if 13 people are okay and three oppose, the trade would be vetoed?

Why not just say more than half of all votes?

I'm curious if Steve will evaluate players based on track record, projection, current performance, or whichever of the above will best fit his argument for the day.

you want me to veto a trade b/c 4 people objected to it? i'm happy to put it to a vote or whatever but not enough people pay attention in this league. i had a lot of discussions with rodelo about the trade and he threatened to leave b/c i was questioning the way he values players. he didn't think kluber was very valuable so he flipped him b/c he thinks joc may become an elite hitter. so what am i supposed to do?

there's a reason we've had a different commissioner every year that i've been in this league. it's incredibly frustrating when you've got a handful of people that pay close attention and get pissed easily and nearly half the league that never communicates about anything.

ok so ultimately tim & gr refused veto so as not to be left without a paddle

this league is broken, you can replace me after the season

I'm not refusing a trade veto. I'm suggesting there is room to talk about the structure of what that looks like. A majority vote makes a lot more sense to me than 2-3 guys raising their hands and objecting. Hell, you could get in a situation where Team A is competing with Teams B, C & D to make the playoffs. Team A makes a reasonable trade of future for current assets. Teams B, C & D all vote against it just because it makes Team A stronger. Such a low veto bar puts dangerous incentives in place.

Make it a majority vote and I'm fine. And to be clear, I mean a majority of the people that bother to vote, not that nine people have to vote against a trade to veto it.

How about this, which is a majority of those voting but includes a minimum number of teams that have to vote? Presumably, the two teams that traded will vote in favor, so this means at least 3 people have to be against it. In effect, whenever there is a trade, a team can come here and start a poll in this thread to veto it. Does that work?

This doesn't hold up trades that go through, but only retroactively cancels unfair trades. I didn't include a change in scoring by the commissioner b/c that would be a pain in the ass, but we could add that I guess.

Voting on Trades:

All trades are subject to a 72-hour voting period during which all teams may vote once to either allow or veto the trade. A trade is vetoed if (1) 50% or more of the teams that cast a vote are in favor of a veto, and (2) at least 5 teams vote on the trade. The effectiveness of the trade will not be delayed during the voting period. But if vetoed, the trade will be reversed.

I missed your last line about leaving. if you're seriously leaving the league, then please undo your last trade and just coast until the end of the year until we can replace you. i don't think there's any real reason for you to leave, but i don't think it's right to make trades as a lame duck manager
