Been rumored today. They should trade for him instead of some less cool guy in Tampa. This is the right choice.

If the choice is him or bores like Odorizzi/Cobb, then yes please. He's up there with Chapman for me as a trade target, lots of want.

What do you give up for him?

I'd be 110% OK with Baez as the headliner. I'd be slightly less enthused by Soler but still generally thrilled. I'm a big Gausman fan and I think there's something to be said for the O's just not doing a great job developing a very talented group of pitching talent, tinstaapp be damned. I really think he could be a #2 in this league.

Yes, yes, yes. I really want him. I too would prefer Javy be the headliner vs Soler. I'd even go as far to add one of our top 5-7 prospects added with Javy to get him vs going Soler 1 for 1.

I'll just leave this here:

Yeah, would way prefer this to anything ATL or TB have to offer. 25 year old power righty with 5 years of control, who has accumulated 3.6 fWAR in 225 IP over the last 2 years while throwing 70% fastballs.

I'd hate to lose Baez, but mostly it's because I don't think they'd get what I think he's worth. If they got this guy I'd be down. Soler works too because I'm sure they'd have a good plan to replace him.

While I don't think it's impossible,

a) What is the deal being built around? Baez? Why? Machado's better ... and he's stuck at 3rd. Schoop has promise (and warts), but that FO has been ridiculously high on him. Are they trading for Baez to ... put him in the OF? That seems debatable. Now, if they can somehow move Hardy, sure, I can perhaps see Baez as the centerpiece.

b) Orioles are looking for arms. I guess it's possible that with the right package, Hendricks could intrigue them, but it's hard to see a deal happening when the Orioles, with Gausman penciled in, already need probably 1 starter, if not 2, and they really don't have enough money to spend in FA. They haven't given any signs of going down the rebuild path this offseason, despite the fact that their current window may be closing.

I think that if this is a deal with the Orioles for Gausman, we're looking at Soler being their return. Given the likelihood that Davis signs elsewhere, they need a corner OF far more than they need a middle infielder.
