So... is it possible he's a thing at all?

 

I really, really want him to be. Of course, if he starts off this year as such, it's going to be hilarious trying to figure out what you do with Addison Russell.

 

It's been mentioned before, but with the defense (at least where scouts rate it) where it is, and his approach + power combo, it seems within his grasp to be at least an average to slightly above average starter if he can successfully implement some tweaks, which it seems he may have.

 

So hard to say when it's just spring training, though.

It's possible. But he's still striking out 30% of the time, so all the holes are still there waiting to be exploited by MLB pitchers who want to exploit them in the regular season.

 

Even if he's no better at all, there's a thin bit of value to be had out of him as the short end of a 3b platoon, PH and 1b backup.

 

I'm willing to give him a shot because I'm just that much of a Coghlan hater, and I like the defensive possibilities of Bryant in LF and Olt in 3b vs. Coghlan in LF and Bryant at 3b. That's swinging two positions from bad to good, defensively.

Yep (not that that problem wouldn't be taken care of after Russell tears up AAA until the Super 2 date).
