Heard a little NHL Radio in the car this afternoon, they were saying there is already speculation that he'll end up in Edmonton.

I heard that too. The question is what will Babcock do? Once that domino falls the rest will all come together.

Tampa wins Game 1 in Montreal

And now game 2.

The Habs just don't have anybody that can score goals. They've been living all season off Price being ridiculously good.

BREAKING: Lou Lamoriello has named Ray Shero as the fourth general manager in #NJDevils history.

Lou stepped down as GM but stayed on as president. This probably means the Devils will remain somewhat Wirtzian when it comes to marketing their team, as Lou does not want his players out in the public.

That contract. Wow. Not that it matters, it's just MLSE's money. But still. The big winners are the top tier coaches in the league on their next deals.

I like how he used Buffalo for leverage. Reports this morning were they were working on a contract. But I would have bet a fair amount two years ago he was going to end up in Toronto.

Being financial bullies outside of the cap is how the Leafs always should been acting. It's a billion dollar franchise with the highest ticket prices in the league. I'm hoping Babcock gives the franchise more respect in the eyes of free agents.

The Leafs now remind me of the Cubs a year or two into Theo's tenure. They're just making all the right moves, contention in a few years feels inevitable with such intelligent people in charge.

i guess both can technically be possible, but this is an amusing sentiment, after i've been hearing for years the strong media suggestion that free agents preferred not to play for Babcock because of his coaching style

I think people preferred to not live in Detroit.

Maybe some players don't like his style. But he has a lot of respect with those two Gold Medals, I think he has a good bond with a lot of guys that have played for Canada internationally.

Agreed. They make so much money it's absurd.

As for free agents, yeah, you didn't see Detroit signing premier guys. Though that wasn't really their organizational style.
