He's obviously trade bait because of Beltre, unless they plan on moving Moreland in the offseason and replacing him next year, but what sense does it make to bring up a guy where he gets little playing time when he could be in the minors continuing to build upon his trade value by crushing the ball down there? I'm baffled.

He has more PA's this year than at any other level and also played in the Arizona Fall League this past year. Since the minor league seasons end after August, we also aren't really talking about that much marginal playing time. They could also be trying to bring him along in other positions besides 3B. I don't really think it's that big of a deal for Olt long-term, or his trade value.

I think they're going to have more than enough PAs for a cheap, versatile righty bat down the road. Michael Young is toast. Beltre is injury prone and will be pretty old in the final years of his contract. Napoli is a free agent who probably won't be a very attractive value if he can't play C any longer. They'll let Nellie Cruz walk after his contract ends in 2013 (he'll be 34). Moreland can be rested against lefties. The Rangers system is stacked in a lot of areas, but they don't have many big power bats. Olt is a valuable commodity for them.
