Keeper League - Any advice for a 1st timer?

Taking part in a keeper league for the first time and just wondering if anyone has any advice that may be helpful for a first timer?

 

There is a 5 man bench - so do I try and draft a Trout or a Harper or similar player who may not be active at the start of the season and stash them?

 

Any insights on any quirks on this type of league appreciated.

need more information, like how many keepers you get, if there's a cap on points you can keep, or if it's one of those leagues where if you keep your first round pick you forfeit next year's first round pick, etc.

you keep 8 players. no points cap that I can see and no forfeiting of players next year.

oh, how many people in the league? if it's like 8 people, your 8 keepers are probably going to be too good to justify keeping around trout or harper. if it's 12 or 16, your roster will be more watered down then it will be easier to keep a top prospect like that.

 

matt moore and strasburg should go very high. but even someone like halladay still has a few good years left and will be quite valuable.

It jumped to 16 by draft day and there was definately some bottom scraping in the last couple of rounds.

 

I did manage to get Strasburg and Montero in the middle rounds. I lost out on Castro and in a fit of spite took Brett Lawrie to piss of the locals.

 

I'm hoping for some decent comebacks from Mauer and Carl Crawford, both of whom went fairly late.
