Texans just kicked a field goal down 8 with 2 minutes to play. So, they went from needing a touchdown to...needing a touchdown.

So the Raiders oblige by throwing an incomplete pass to stop the clock after Houston used up their last timeout.

 

The Texans kicked the field goal because it was 4th and 18. Had the distance been less like it was earlier on the drive on 4th and 9, they likely would have gone for it.

 

The pass didn't matter at all. Houston was out of timeouts but there was 2:52 left on the clock. So if the Raiders run on second down, they'd have to snap the ball on third down with around 2:05 left anyway, meaning if they don't get the first down, it's fourth down coming out of the two minute warning. Even though they threw the ball on second down, they ended up in the same situation - no first down and punting coming out of the two minute warning. Whether it was intentional or not, it actually ended up being a good idea to take a shot downfield (the WR was barely overthrown) rather than having McFadden/Bush run into the line for a yard or two.

 

And it's not like the running game was doing much. McFadden ran for 51 yards but 42 of those game one one drive late in the third. Take out those and he has 13 carries for 9 yards while Bush had 4 carries for 9 yards. So it was unlikely they were going to pick up the first down by running it.

Tied an NFL record for most 50+ yarders in a game.

 

EDIT: He's been amazing this year. 11-12 FGs including 5-6 from 50+ and two more from 40+. He was 3-3 vs. Denver and they won by 3 and 4-4 today in a 5 point win.

He is injured and is rehabbing I believe. We cut him in training camp.

More stuff than just one thing, but the last thing he suggested was that a Packer lineman should just "let the defender take his best shot" at Rodgers.
