The picking up of 2010 drafted players

Aren't these players off limits until we have our amateur draft?

 

The reason I ask is because Navin has picked up Chris Sale today. :club:

I think you're right. Players already signed before this year are fair game because everybody had a fair chance during this year's prospect draft, but I believe this years' draftees have to wait until the next prospect draft.

It was my understanding that any minor leaguer is fair game once they reach the big leagues and Sale was called up to the White Sox this morning. I guess not?

If he was called up today (I missed that), then you're perfectly fine in picking him up.

He did get the call. I wasn't aware of the rule that once a prospect is brought up he is fair game.

I would disagree as that's still the whole point of the minor league draft. If Bryce Harper for what ever reason went straight to the pro's he shouldn't be fair game on the waiver wire.

Yeah, I'm just not sure if there was any clarification that this kind of move would be allowed going forward.
