Anyone wonder why it's held in June while college baseball is still going strong? It seems that an appropriate time for the draft would be the day after the all star game. It's a boring down time anyway, and it would allow college coaches to manage their players not worrying quite as much about, "This guy just got drafted #13, I can't ruin his arm."

Anyone wonder why it's held in June while college baseball is still going strong? It seems that an appropriate time for the draft would be the day after the all star game. Short season ball couldn't start until late July then and would only last for a month.
