Brett Jackson is starting in center and batting 7th for the U.S. team in the Futures game. Hak-Ju Lee is not starting for the international team.

darwin barney should definitely be our utility guy next year... won't hit for power or walk, but he doesn't strike out that much and should hit for a decent average, and supposedly he's an excellent fielder.

 

junior lake had another home run and walk today... he OPS'ed over .800 in june and now is near 1.000 for july (after .480 and .520 in april/may). just as important, his BB/K ratio is 24/59... not great, but a hell of a lot better than last year's 18/138 (!!!) and he's only 20 years old at daytona. he's still a long shot, but at least the signs are there that he's turning raw talent into actual production.
