The prego wife, 17 month old, and me are going to Jackson to see Jackson and Vitters (he better be playing) tonight. We'll probably make it through 4 or 5 innings (3 beers for me). I'll report anything interesting I see. Last time I went to a game it was to see Castro, hopefully the luck will payoff and Jackson and Vitters will be knocking on the door next year.

Looks like Logan Watkins is healthy again after missing 7 games.

Sergio Burruel is 0/1 with 3 walks so far today. He's had a solid start to his season down in Mesa but with absolutely no power (.320/.483/.320).

Report:

-The Smokies were sporting a sweet powder blue jersey. I only got to see 4 innings then I ran around chasing my son for two innings. Dippin Dots can only soothe the savage beast for a while.

-Whomever was pitching for the D-Jaxx was overpowering. He was a lefty who worked in the 92-94 mph range who could bring it (96-98 mph). He also sported an 82 mph breaking ball.

-Dolis was no slouch either he worked in the low 90s (90-92) and touched 94 on occasion. He had some trouble with command (lots of deep counts) but I was very impressed.

-Vitters struck out on 3 pitches in his first AB. Completely overmatched, but then so was most everyone else on the Smokies. However, he did make a very nice play in the field. With a man on 1st, A chopper was hit to him and he made a nice bare handed catch and throw to get the guy at second.

-Jackson is a head taller than almost everyone else on the team and has dreamy blond hair (What do you expect from a Berkley boy?). He grounded out in his 1st AB and was HBP in his second.

-Tony Thomas has a nice mohawk, lol.

I wish I had more to say. My biggest impression was that whomever was pitching for the D-Jaxx is really, really, good.

Dolis topping out at 94 is disappointing.
