i'm sure bradley was a dick to the media, and he had pretty good reason to be. i'm not saying bradley isn't to blame or anything like that, but of course he was a dick to the media. i would have been too. they'd rip him non stop and then wonder why he wasn't nice to them after the games.

How did Bradley "treat the media badly?"

there was that one time in KC where he stormed up to the booth after that radio guy or whatever

Sure, but what does that have to do with his time as a Cub and dealing with the Chicago media? Besides, it's pretty clear that the talk of "the media" in this thread has been in reference to sports journalists and reporters and not play by play guys.

It seems like the general extent of his "negative" treatment of the media was not talking to them most of the time. Hell, it seems like the general extent of the Bradley "ordeal" overall was him not talking to people. Oooh, scary. It's a miracle anyone got through such a terrible time. Thoughts and prayers.

Wittenmeyer is a hack, in a town full of bad sports writers, he is the worst of the bunch.

He started on Bradley last year before the first pitch of the season was thrown and never let up. Bradley could/should have let it roll off his back but Wittenmeyer was counting on Bradley's history of letting the media get to him, to fan the flames.

Now Bradley is gone yet he still wants to throw a final jab with the "anti-Bradley" remark. Wittenmeyer is a classless POS.

nothing. that was my point

Asked about possible racial profiling among some media members in comparing Byrd and Bradley, Cubs first baseman Derrek Lee didn't mince words.

...

Maybe Lee is just annoyed at being asked stupid questions about stupid media reports.

So what is your point? That he didn't treat the media like [expletive]? Because Bruce Miles has stated many times that Bradley treated people like [expletive], and it wasn't just about ignoring people.

I don't get why people still try and pretend that Bradley wasn't a Ahole. He was an Ahole and treated people like [expletive], but that was a stupid reason to trade him for crap and make the team worse.

I'm not sure how that is your interpretation of Bradley. It was clearly much more than just ignoring people.

I have a sickening feeling we'll be talking about Milton all the way through the season. Just when it starts to die down, we'll head to Seattle for that series, and Milton will kill a bird in LF or something.

that one time he went up to the booth to go after a member of the KC media. That reputation followed him to Chicago. Did he treat the Chicago media poorly? I don't really know, but I have no problem believing that his reputation put him in quite a hole. His bad production didn't help.

With the media? I readily admit I could be wrong, but I don't recall anything about how he "treated the media poorly" while he was here outside of typically not wanting to talk them or cutting interviews short.

Never have I said Bradley wasn't an [expletive]. Being an [expletive], however, is not a reason to trade someone and make a team significantly weaker.

I'm not going to quote him exactly, but Bruce told me some of the things that Milton said to people and it happened right away and was not about simply ignoring them. He treated people like crap.

The fact that it was stupid to trade him for what they got doesn't take away the fact that Milton actually was a complete jerk.

Yeah, but who ever said he wasn't a jerk? I just think it's ridiculous for some to act like it was some kind of ordeal, especially for the media. I mean, what was he doing to them? Being rude? Eh, tough [expletive].

Have you seen Byrd's biceps? Let see Milton try.

Well yeah, some of the media has been extreme, namely Kaplan and Sullivan. But it wasn't just being rude. I don't get the point in trying to pretend it was just harmless silence.

It's easy to "get;" I didn't hear of anything that seem to go beyond him refusing to talk to the media or cutting interviews short. If more happened, hey, I'm wrong. My post was based on the extent of what I knew. I have no idea why you assume everyone is versed on the details of Bradley's relationship with the sports media. I figured if something actually serious or unusual had occured we would have heard about it.

Because this specific topic has come up multiple times on here, some people insist the Bradley stuff was just exaggerated nonsense when it wasn't.

I'm so sick of the story myself and see much of the continuation is about people who think he was the devil and people who think he did no wrong and was railroaded. I think the most accurate description is that Milton really was a jerk, but everybody knew that in advance, so trading him because of that fact is both hypocritical and stupid, since it hurt the team.

I have a problem with media members who try and base their evaluations of a player on whether or not they have a good quote, but the Milton situation wasn't just a media driven story.

So can you at least link me to this story since you're so sick of it?
