Not a bad draft, at all.

This draft is much better than last year's. If I'm not mistaken, Ubaldo Jiminez was the top pick last year, whereas ARod is likely to be this year. That's a significant difference.

That tells me we have the right number of points and players for keepers.

Well we had an expansion draft last year where points didn't matter. That allowed some teams to have way better players than if they had to keep only a certain amount of points. I know in the expansion draft A-Rod went first followed by my pick of Pujols.

So who are you taking at #10 Levin?

Depends on if he is drafted or not.

Jeter was the pick. Gives me a strong 2B, SS combo in Cabrera and Jeter. Getting production from those positions will be nice because normally my teams are weak there.

WTF is with all the Yankee love in the 1st round?!?

I took Garza (no brainer) with the 11th pick. Sultan is on the clock.

Well I don't need SP's. I kept 7 and my 8th will be Wade Davis who is technically a minor leaguer right now. Offensively Jeter fits my needs much better than anyone else who was available. I'm not too happy about it as I don't like Jeter and think he bound to break down any year now and start having some injuries.

I know....I meant a no brainer for me. After King Felix and Beckett I have two question marks in Liriano and Gonzalez and some talent that could be arriving later this season in Hellickson/Crow/Poreda, maybe even Crosby but I think he'll arrive in 2011.

Jeter is like the energizer bunny. I was expecting you to go infield. I thought Czar would have grabbed Markakis.

Got to say I love my chances this season with my latest trade. I regreted trading for Quentin as soon as I made the trade this offseason. I made the mistake of accepting the trade without doing all my research first. I hadn't realized how bad he was before his one great year. He seems very much a great power hitter with out much else. He doesn't walk much except in the one year and his average even in the great year was, not to be redundant, average.

I get to grab DLee who is the last of the real good 1B and keep my 2nd rd pick that is just 9 picks later. Quentin was already a backup I would have to use up the utility spot for and now I am given much more freedom and can take an OF when I want. I would say there is a good chance that at No. 23 there will be a OF of better/equal value as Quentin available (not that I am set on taking OF). So that basically means that I traded a 12th rd pick to move up 9 spots and get the last great 1B who happens to be in a contract year.

BTW this is not to say that the trade was bad for SoCal, just that he could have gotten more.

I agree that it was a better deal for Levin than it was for Matt, but I think it was somewhat even. I'd give the nod to Levin though, as going from Quentin to Lee is certainly an upgrade.

And I'm not saying you shouldn't feel good about your team, but your offense is just not very intimidating. But, your pitching, on the other hand, has the potential to be scary good. If you stay healthy, I think you've definitely gotten a bit better this year from last.

Well Soto is one of the best catchers, Jeter is one of the best short stops, Manny is one of the best batters period and DLee is a very good 1B. I then have a very promising 2B in Cabrera and Jay Bruce is a high potential player. Like you said I have pitching done so I will fill all my other batting positions and with a 2nd rd pick, two 3rd rders and two 4th rders I am confident my batting will be top 5 at the least.

As far as my pitching I love it. I got proven vets who aren't over 30 and thus shouldn't break down pared with young guys who are known for power pitching and loads of potential. I would think I should run away with the SO stat.

Which would matter, if this were Roto. ;)

Out of curiosity, what do you reasonably expect to get in the 3rd and 4th rounds? Not having picks there, it's not like I'm going to steal guys you want, and I'm not even necessarily asking specifically who you want, but who do you think is a reasonable 3rd or 4th rounder who really will help much? Are you thinking something like Cuddyer or Swisher, or do you think you're gonna have to go down to the guys like Willingham or Hermida at that point?

This team looks like it will collapse under late season pressure just like last season. :blackeye:

I managed to talk myself into FURTHER neglecting my rotation. How could you people make me take Markakis?

I wanted Markakis but Lackey is not a bad alternative...

In case you were wondering, you and I are now arch rivals. I really, really wanted Lackey, and thought for sure he'd fall to my next pick.

Okay! I'll trade you my next pick (#20) for him. That's a steal, if you ask me.

How is getting the #20 pick a steal...I would rather keep Lackey....
