According to Phil Rogers, the cubs are definitely one of the teams interested. We know that the marlin offered a contract of 5yrs along with the Red sox i believe. Bruce Levine had an interested message in his chat where he mentioned that most GMs expect the bidding to end up at 4yrs 35 Million. I dont think it will get that high, thats kind of BS to me. But lets say the cubs lose out on Capps and were planing to offer him a multi year 4 mil deal. Should the cubs invest that money instead on Chapman because of their supposed emphasis on the farm?

We had a brief exchange about this yesterday, but I am of the opinion that Chapman is one of those guys that gets severely overrated due to radar readings. From what I saw during the WBC and what I've read about him from some scouts, he lacks most things except a high-end fastball right now. I think there are many better ways to invest that money than sinking even $20M into Chapman.

Basically, I'd rather scour the planet for 20 separate $1M international signings than dump it all into one guy with significant question marks.
