The Mariners offered arbitration to third baseman Adrian Beltre, but declined the opportunity with left-hander Erik Bedard.

Both are Type B free agents. Beltre is drawing a decent amount of interest around the league and is likely to reject. As for Bedard, the M's couldn't risk him accepting the offer of arbitration. He made $8 million in 2009 and probably would have been awarded a slight raise through the process. The left-hander is gaining some interest as a high-risk, high-reward arm

If we're not gonna resign Harden who is a high risk high reward guy, why not a different one? Would you take a flier on him for $9 mil?
