Sabermetrics looks more like scouting every day.

If the system can quantify range (steps to get to a ball) in a meaningful way it will be a light year's improvement from anything that's available today. However, that's just one of many important things to look at. Also, I'd love to see something like, in-the-best-position-to-make-a-play-before-the-ball-is-pitched. Guys who are in good positions often do make it look too easy. Whereas a guy like Edmonds (who was a great defender) was many times out of position so making "great" catches appeared to happen more often.
