Not a great day for the Cubs organization as a whole unless your name is Jake Fox.

And Tyler Colvin moves another step close to Luis Montanez/Ryan Harvey territory.

Absolutely not true. The three pitchers who are interesting who started today all did well. Maestri also had a good outing. It wasn't a good day for the hitters, but it was a pretty nice day for pitching.

And Colvin has turned once again back into the person he was for the first few months last year, and this year's version is even more patient so far than last year. Hopefully this time he can integrate the two parts of his game together and start getting some XBH to go with his walks.

I was just trying to put Jake Fox over. Its a shame that we have wastes of space like Joey Gathrigth and Aaron Miles on the big league roster and hes rotting away in the cornfields.

I understand that since Miles was given a 2 year deal for some ungodly reason, he wont be going anywhere, but Gathright is quite expendanble, and Fox and Hoffpauir would be like a younger, not quite as injury prone Cliff Floyd and Daryl Ward.

I completely agree with CCP with the addendum that Colvin puts it together at AA once his "rehab" is over.

Shafer, Mateo and Ascanio looked good. Maestri, Huseby and Alburquerque had good numbers out of the pen. Vitters had 3 hits. Colvin walked twice. Ridling had two doubles. Nelson Perez had another XBH and only struck out once. Marwin Gonzalez is apparently justifying batting 5th in the Daytona lineup.

Jake Fox is not an answer for the Cubs. He is a poor fielder and his glove cannot not be trusted at the MLB level. After watching him hit the last 3 spring trainings, he is an all or nothing type hitter. He is currently in hot streak that garners attention, but he will cool off. At best, his MLB celing is as (AL) situational player on a lower-half team. His value is trade bait.

As far as Covin, I like the walks, but he needs to hit for average and extra bases. I will show a more critical evalution eye next month when the elbow is better and the weather is warmer. By eary June, we should know if Colvin is progressing as a prospect or turned into a suspect.
