The first of probably many "Rate My Team" threads

Figure since a bunch of us just had the draft it's time to share rosters and rate our teams. Here's mine. Parenthesis were the draft round. 14 teams, 21 rounds, Standard 5x5 H2H league

C Geovany Soto (5)

1B/OF Adam Dunn (6)

2B Mark DeRosa (9)

3B Alex Rodriguez (1)

SS Jhonny Peralta (8)

OF Jason Bay (3)

OF Justin Upton (11)

OF Cameron Maybin (14)

UTIL Mike Cameron (18)

BN OF Travis Snider (17)

BN SS Christian Guzman (20)

BN C Taylor Teagarden (21)

SP Johan Santana (2)

SP Francisco Liriano (4)

RP Francisco Cordero (10)

RP Brian Wilson (13)

P Joba Cahmberlain (7)

P Max Scherzer (12)

P Jair Jurjjens (15)

BN SP Fausto Carmona (16)

BN RP Brad Zeigler (19)

I had the 4th pick of the draft. I am extremely pleased with it, but I realize it looks more like a dynasty team. Lots of potential in my lineup and rotation, but not exactly a bunch of sure things. If my youngsters live up to a little more than half of their potential, I feel I may have one of the best teams in the league. But, they could just as easily flounder and then I could have one of the weakest teams in the league. It's a risky team. Also, I didn't want to overpay for saves, which is why I have Cordero and Wilson, both mediocre closers. Not sure if Zeigler or Devine was gonna be the closerin Oakland, so I picked him up just in case (someone already took Devine)

Overall I was very satisfied with my draft considering the amount of teams in the league. I felt lucky that Santana and Liriano fell to me so late in the 2nd and 4th rounds

Its a team of great players and very little after that. You have a lot of top players who will have dominant stats but almost nothing after that. If a couple of your gambles pay off (like Maybin) then you can do very well. If not you will be hurting because you have some holes in the starting lineup.

You're being a bit extreme. I would rather have a more sure backup OF than Snider when Justin Upton and Maybin are starters, but there are a lot of OFs out there so he can just pick one up from the WW if all 3 of those young guys fail. Same thing with pitchers. If there are any positions to take risks on its those. Since there are obviously more OFs and SPs on real major league teams theres a much better chance that quality minor leaguers get brought up and guys break out.

According to the BlueJays.com depth chart Snider is the starter in LF. But he could just as easily be a bust and need more polishing in the minors. Same with Maybin, Teagarden, Scherzer. It's a risk I take, but I take it proudly
