Any news on Griffey?

In both of his last two seasons, he has put up an above average OPS.

 

Three years ago (his worst season), it was a 99 OPS+

 

Obviously, he will continue to decline, but it is ridiculous to say that he cannot hit anymore.

 

He had a .777 OPS last season. That is below average for a RF, especially one who doesn't play defense better than me. I wouldn't want him or Patterson to come anywhere near a starting job, but at least Patterson would have value off the bench and late in games. I don't really see a single thing Griffey brings to the table at this point. He'd be a waste of a roster spot IMO. I'd rather give it to Hoffpauir

Griffey might be a decent alternative to Ward, but not much else. The man should be nowhere near the OF anymore.

I guess in my fantasy offseason if the Cubs can afford Furcal,Dempster,Peavy, and got Wood back on a one year deal why not get greedy with Bradley.... I'd rather have Dunn knocking out windows on Sheffield all summer and him playing 150 games in RF =D> :-))

There have been some rumors that he isn't getting a whole lot of interest on the market and some speculation that he might end up signing back here. Doubtful, but possible.
