I'm lukewarm at best on Mclouth. His slugging this year is higher than he ever put up in the minors, and his HRs are more than double anything he ever did in the minors, so I have doubts if the power is sustainable. The .280 average / .360 OBP lines probably are, and the defense is good. His power spike this year I think will boost the price (in terms of prospects) above what I think he's worth if he can't replicate his power numbers. If we could get him for Pie plus filler, I'd do that, but I think he'll draw significantly more than that.

.280/.360 + 18-20 HRs + very good speed + good defense + youth + cheap contract = great CF

Does he even have a good reputation on defense? Chris Dial's system and +/- have him as absolutely horrendous with the glove this year.

I don't know about his defense, but defense isn't why the Cubs would be interested. If they want defense, they already have Pie.

They should be interested in who's the best overall player (and consider the cost of course). There's a huge difference between the two if those numbers hold up.
