I'd have him skip a start or two. No reason why we can't give him a break and have him strong for the stretch and October.

Love to see that esp. with the brew crew is our last series

Z has a tired arm and will skip tomorrow's start per Lou per a post in today's game thread.

that is actually great news IMO. we're like 94% to win the division; time to get guys fresh for the playoffs.

I know this is true, but I still have a hard time relaxing. I can't help it!

We'll be fine. I really hope we give Harden and Dempster some extra rest in September.

If this is true I have not seen any reports with confirmation of it anywhere.

I haven't read anywhere that this is true. Cubs.com still has him starting and no where do I see a quote with Lou saying this.

Suntimes:

Carlos Zambrano might be on a shorter pitch count today against Philadelphia, but not because of health concerns.

Instead, the Cubs and Zambrano believe the right-hander has muscle fatigue in his triceps, and he has been going through lighter workouts to rebuild his arm strength.

With September around the corner, Cubs manager Lou Piniella likely will juggle his rotation with an eye toward keeping his starters fresh for the playoffs in October.

Rich Harden, who already has thrown his second-highest major-league total of innings at 131, is the most likely candidate to be pushed back or skipped in the next two weeks.

The Cubs have off days Thursday and Sept. 8, which could make it easier for Piniella.

"We might even throw [ Sean] Marshall into the rotation for a day so we can give them a little more rest," Piniella said.
