huge game in the east. i can clinch a playoff spot (and keep a shot at the division alive) with a win. HBC needs to finish 2-0 (including beating me this week) and have me finish 0-2.

after two weeks of winning despite not liking my matchups, i actually do feel good about my matchups this week. two starts against washington, and one each against seattle, oakland and minnesota. a lot of yankees and red sox matchups for HBC. HBC has a full week of vlad, but that means a full week of teix for me. berkman should be facing both sheets and sabathia. i could use a decent week out of a struggling uggla... the marlins miss lincecum, webb and haren.

after george sherrill helped get me to within one win of clinching a playoff spot, i have heartlessly cast him aside in favor of that guy from oakland that doesn't give up runs. hope that doesn't cost me.

the west is a sloppy mess that i neither care about nor fully understand. so i'll leave that analysis to someone else.

alamo stealth can eliminate both quakers and the eyes of texas with a win this week. if shane wins, then things get complicates. both fuzzy and nsbb can clinch a spot with a win this week or a texas loss. actually, nsbb has already clinched a spot by virtue of two wins of the eyes of texas. naturally, they play each other so the winner clinches a spot and if its fuzzy, the division. if nsbb wins, fuzzy could still win the division with an nsbb loss next week and a win over severe tooterstorms. nsbb wins the division with two wins. alamo can still get in with a loss by winning next week and the eyes of texas losing to dishmans.

so, in summary:

NSBB: in. can win division by winning both remaining games

Fuzzy: wins division by winning this week if alamo loses or by winning both remaining games. clinches playoffs with win or texas loss.

Alamo: in with win this week or win next week and texas loss next week. wins division with two wins and loss by both nsbb and fuzzy in last two weeks.

Texas: in with two wins.

That's . . . interesting. And I probably screwed up somewhere.

wow, the east is convoluted too if you look at the division champion.

both raw and tootie are in and the winner of their matchup this week has the upper hand for sure. however, GHS could still catch Raw with two wins and a raw loss in the last week. likewise, it tootie wins and then loses to GHS, GHS would win the tiebreaker with tootie. tootie wins the tiebreaker with either team on points (this is irrelevant for GHS as he has to beat tootie the last week and sweep him to create a tie).

So, if GHS wins out and tootie wins this week and raw next, we would have a three way tie, which tootie wins on points (barring some monstrous numbers the last two weeks).

someone please tell me who i want to win the raw/tootie matchup.

edit: i think i want tootie to win.

actually, I think you want raw to win. you can only win the division if raw wins and then loses next week and you overtake him in points while beating tootie. if tootie wins, you win if raw loses again next week and you beat tootie. so, I guess you mostly need raw to lose his last game. so stop cheering against HBC!

yeah, i think there are two scenarios where i could win the division...1) raw going 0-2, me going 2-0 or 2) raw going 1-1, me going 2-0 and passing raw in points.

But if Raw goes 1-1 and the one of those losses is to me, and you go 2-0 it'd be a 3 way tie, which would come down to me based on points, correct???

i don't know how that would work. it'd be possible that i could have the H2H tiebreaker against you and the points tiebreaker against raw (we each beat each other once). it would suck for me to have the tiebreaker edge on both of you and still not win the division.

Hopefully HBC keeps it interesting this week and pulls off the win. :)

one thing i'm sure i can root for is me scoring more points than raw.

if oakland continues to use ziegler for two inning saves, he might end up being a good pickup (and possible keeper). it'd be pretty nice to get two or three 12 point outings a week from a RP.

duch went to the DL, so i picked up suppan, who pitches tomorrow. duch was scheduled for a second start this week, so i'm pretty sure this move is OK (as suppan is just replacing the start i lost from duch). if not, somebody say something.

suppan sucks and I hope you regret the move.

due to bruce's stellar game, i think i may have this one. however, i've gone to bed on sunday night thinking i had won before. if i lose to HBC by less than two points for the second time this year due to the sunday night game, i'm going to be pretty pissed.

over/under on adam's blood pressure at 7 AM? Too good matchups from team's at the top of the standings -especially in the west. Glad we have real-time scoring now.

Victorino's 11th inning double and game-winning run put me up by 1/2 point. Hopefully that will hold up after any overnight deductions. If only I had the guts to have started Harang I wouldn't be sweating it out to the end.

thank you, jay bruce, for the ever-elusive -4 point game as a position player.

now the only bad part about me forgetting to start myers is that my chance of catching raw in points is out the window. glad i don't have to pay attention to my team this week.

Tie! We tied. There are no ties!

The race for last continues...

Perhaps the first tie in Roadkill history. I looked at standings for previous years and there are no ties shown. However, for some reason the 2004 standings were wiped out and it shows everybody at 0-0. That was the year before I joined, so I don't know if there were any ties that year or not.

Quakers get back to their winning ways, but too little too late. But finishing over .500 would be nice.

Well at least I have a few extra draft picks for next year.

BTW - I should have some players with exemptions that I will not be able to keep in the off-season. So, I will be looking to trade.

Also, Clay Buchholtz has been sent to the minors. If he finishes the season there, will I be able to keep him in my minors in the off-season? or, since he has 15 starts this year, I have to keep him in the majors?

My guess is that he needs to be one of my 10 major league keepers.
