Full keeper league. My team is not going to make the playoffs, so I'm looking to waive the white flag. The offer on the table is:

I give up Josh Hamilton and Chris Young (AZ)

I get Justin Upton and Francisco Liriano

Thoughts?

Tough call. Upton is going to be really good one day, so it'd be great to have him on your team, and Young is a total crap out this year so who knows what he'll do next year. But Hamilton is still relatively young and will play out of his mind while he's at Texas. If you could, it'd be nice to see if you could watch Liriano make a start or two in the MLB first. If Liriano is back to being Liriano I say do it, but we can't know for sure yet until they start him, and I'm assuming you have a trade deadline in your league. He probably won't make a start before then.

Tough call, if Liriano is awesome again a Liriano for Hamilton swap seems like a wash, and Young for Upton swap I would think favors Upton. But since Liriano hasn't been given the chance to prove himself (again) at the MLB level, I would say hold off for right now and maybe look for other teams who need Hamilton

I'd hang on to Hamilton. He's just too much of a stud to trade. Liriano is also a stud when healthy, but I'm not sure I trust how much he'll be healthy over his career. At best you'd break even if you make this trade, at worst Liriano is somewhere between Mark Prior and Ben Sheets and you gave away a tripple crown threat in his prime.

Well Liriano's been healthy all year, he just had command issues, and he's been damn near untouchable in the minors his last 10 starts or so, but the Twins refuse to call him up for some reason.

Didn't feel like starting a new thread. I have a trade offered to me in a keeper league (actually dynasty-keep ALL your players).

I currently don't have a SS on my roster. I'm in 6th place (last playoff spot) out of 18 teams. So needless to say, it's a deep league. Anyway, I'm offered Jhonny Peralta for Yovanni Gallardo. I have Z, Lincecum, A. Sanchez, Gallagher (now hurt), Pelfrey, Liriano, Volstad, Liz, Hill as my other SP. I'm leaning towards doing it because Peralta is a solid option at SS for a league so deep. I also don't have any SS in my farm system so it's gonna be tough to get one. On the other hand, Gallardo is so young and should be a stud and Guzman was recently dropped and cleared waivers so that could be my SS right there. What do you think? Also, I'm thinking about getting him to add Gaudin and I add Liz (or Crede) because I need another bullpen arm.

EDIT: Felipe Lopez is also available and will likely be a top 5 SS now that he's with the Cards.
