the pirates starting pitching is terrible. gorzelanny was terrible and has been farmed out; ian (oquendo) snell has a whip near 2.00, john van benschoten should be converted to an outfielder immediately, zach duke can't strike anyone out, and i don't know who the hell this guy is on the mound tonight. when paul maholm is an ace, your pitching staff is brutal.

and yet they keep drafting college lefties in the first round year after year

Where's our resident pirate fan and his "Pirates are getting that winning feeling" spirit these days?

that was littlefield. this year they grabbed pedro alvarez, which was absolutely the right move. by most accounts they had a very good draft this year.

as for jake, the pirates are better this year but it will be a long process. i think even he would tell you that their pitching is God-awful. the stain of dave littlefield does not wash away in a year.

It's not an NL Central game but the Indians are beating the Rays by 7 in the bottom of the 3rd inning.

Rays not ending the first half the way they had hoped.

and the red sox are up by 8. in the words of satchel paige, "Don't look back. Something might be gaining on you."

The way the Rays are playing right now makes me wish interleague play was moved back a few weeks.

hey remember when jay bruce was good at baseball?

i'm kidding, of course, but his OPS is down to .759. his plate discipline was fairly marginal in the minors. it looks like big league pitchers have adjusted to him and he hasn't adjusted yet, as evidenced by his nifty .513 OPS in the last month. most of the time i wouldn't think there is any reason for concern, but it's not like dusty is gonna help him with his approach.

You can pretty much throw out pitching matchups when the Crew are at home. Brewers will very likely win this game obviously.

I guess your right with Josh Fogg winning a game and Ben Sheets losing a game in this homestand

One example doesn't overturn the general rule. The Crew are 30-16 at home, a .652 winning percentage.

yadier molina is hitting .312 now??? son of a bitch.

6-3 cards. keep sticking with this pitcher, russell, his sparkling ERA of 10.38 indicates that he will turn it around any minute now.

Does he have anything else to go to? Honestly I don't even care to look since it's been almost a guarantee that the Pirates will turn into garbage every year on the whole.

Yeah they are a good home team but that doesnt mean you can ignore the fact that the NL's ERA leader is starting for the visitors. Or wait I think Lincecum is now the ERA leader. Guess we don't have to worry about him tomorrow though
